JOB DESCRIPTION

Wood is seeking a seasoned Construction Manager with expertise in the Oil & Gas and Petrochemicals industry and preferably having experience in managing brownfield construction projects within Saudi Aramco facilities. The selected candidate will be required to employ his construction experience to ensure that all engineering and design deliverables are practical, safe, and executable in the field. The role will lead constructability reviews throughout all phases of design and interface closely with project stakeholders to optimize construction planning, minimize risks, and enhance overall project deliverability.

This position will be fully based in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead constructability planning and reviews across all project phases (Concept, FEED, Detailed Design).
  • Participate in pre-design and post-design site visits to understand and verify the actual site conditions especially around the interfaces / tie-ins.
  • Analyze engineering drawings and specifications to identify constructability issues, sequencing conflicts, or material-handling constraints.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary engineering teams, construction contractors, and procurement specialists to integrate construction considerations into design.
  • Develop and maintain constructability work processes, checklists, and tools tailored specifically for the relevant sector and projects' environment.
  • Provide strategic input into site layout, modularization, prefabrication, and construction methodologies to improve schedule and cost performance.
  • Participate in Safety workshops (PHA / HAZOP / SIL / HAZID etc.), plot plan reviews, 3D model reviews, and design validation workshops.
  • Interface with construction and field teams to support site execution planning, temporary works requirements, and logistics strategies.
  • Support development of construction work packages and interface with project controls for construction scheduling and sequencing.
  • Ensure all constructability concerns are tracked, documented, and resolved in coordination with relevant stakeholders.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and lessons-learned programs based on past projects and field experience.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Chemical Engineering, or equivalent technical discipline.
  • Minimum 20 years of experience in design and construction of oil & gas and/or petrochemical facilities under EPC or PMC environment, with at least 5 years focused on constructability.
  • In-depth knowledge of heavy industrial construction practices, including modular construction, brownfield tie-ins, and shutdown planning.
  • Strong understanding of safety-in-design principles and risk-based construction planning practices.
  • Experienced in use of construction management systems and having sufficient familiarity with engineering design tools (e.g., Navisworks, SmartPlant, MicroStation, BIM/Revit etc.).
  • Familiarity with Saudi Aramco standards & specifications and industry codes and standards such as API, ASME, AISC, and IEC.
  • Effective communicator with proven ability to lead constructability efforts in a multi-stakeholder environment.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience of managing construction for heavy brownfield projects within Saudi Aramco facilities.
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng), Professional Engineer (PE), or equivalent certification.
  • Field experience in commissioning, start-up, or plant operations is a plus.
  • Knowledge of sustainability, decarbonization, or energy transition technologies in industrial contexts is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with international project execution practices in remote or challenging environments.
