What's the role
As a Machinist - Maintenance Turnaround and Construction, you will administratively report to Maintenance Team Leader of shops. Primary interfaces, Maintenance Team Leader of shops, MET and Machine shop coordinator and you will be a member of Maintenance Turnaround and Construction organization.

The rate for this position is $49.56 . Individual pay will be based on various factors, such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, and internal equity.
For regular full-time or regular part-time employees of the Company (participating companies as listed in the Summary Plan Description), insurance coverage options include medical, dental, vision coverage, life Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs. Employees also participate in a company pension plan and a 401(k) plan. Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks of paid vacation time, up to 11 paid holidays, and parental leave offering 16 weeks of paid leave for birthing parents, and 8 weeks of paid leave for non-birthing parents.
Additionally, employees are eligible for short-term disability leave for up to 26 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay as well as Long-Term Disability insurance. Shell also offers other compensation such financial reimbursement for adoption, wellness, education, and personal learning expenses, and some roles are eligible for discretionary long-term incentives. For interns, eligible benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs; participation in a 401(k) plan; and paid leave for up to 11 paid holidays. As a Machinist - Maintenance Turnaround and Construction, you will administratively report to Maintenance Team Leader of shops. Primary interfaces, Maintenance Team Leader of shops, MET and Machine shop coordinator and you will be a member of Maintenance Turnaround and Construction organization.
You will also be responsible for the following duties below.
Accountabilities:
- Assembly/Disassembly on mechanical equipment such as: Pumps, Gearboxes, Electric Motors, etc.
- Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and Vernier calipers
- Measure, examine, and test completed units to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments such as micrometers
- Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, and engineering information to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to fabricate products, and determine product dimensions and tolerances
- Select the appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in preparation for machinery work
- Install repaired parts into equipment or install new equipment
- Clean and lubricate machines, tools, and equipment to remove grease, rust, stains, and foreign matter
- Clear communications with engineering, supervisory, and manufacturing personnel to exchange technical information
- Dismantle machines or equipment, using hand tools and power tools, to examine parts for defects and replace defective parts where needed
- Fit and assemble parts to make or repair machine tools
- Prepare working sketches for the illustration of product appearance
What we need from you
- Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis
- You must be an Inside 1st Class Industrial Machinist with a minimum of 10 years' experience. Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as: Lathes, Milling machines, Radial Arm Drill press, Surface Grinders, Key Seater, Lapping Machine, Horizontal and Vertical Press, Balancing Machine. Familiarization with shaft straightening
- Minimum of High School diploma or equivalent
- Knowledge of metalworking, brazing, heat-treating, welding, and cutting equipment is desirable
- Strong Safety Mindset with an understanding of our own limitations
- Intervening with coworkers to ensure their safety
- Ability to work with various technical disciplines/craft lines
- Continuous Improvement mindset with willingness to learn new technology.
- Keep workspace clutter free & clean including worktables, benches, and floor
- Return all tools and materials to its rightful place
- Report anything that needs repair, replenishment or attention including tooling, material, inserts, drills, taps, end mills, stock material, etc.
- Shop and Equipment clean-up, preventative maintenance and housekeeping.
- Ability to work extended hours, holidays, weekends as required
- Occasionally must work nights to support plant activities
