Job Description

The Domestic Gas Meter Changer is primarily assigned duties associated with the installation and replacement of impacted small commercial and residential failed family meters. Position only performs work associated with the meter-sets outside of customer premises and will refer any work inside the home to other qualified Avista personnel. Must be able to identify all abnormal operating conditions and service restoration requirements based on Avista defined gas standards. This position will be responsible to ensure that Avista gas construction standards are followed.

Requirements

  • Qualified applicants must have a high school diploma or completed GED and possess a valid driver's license and maintain a satisfactory driving record.
  • Requires one year experience in construction work or customer service, a combination of the two will be considered.
  • Applicants with mechanical aptitude preferred.
  • Must be able to work without direct supervision, be a team player and self-starter.
  • Required to be Operator Qualified (OQ) in related construction and maintenance tasks.
  • Position may be required to travel within the Avista territory, must be able to travel as needed.
  • Must be able to complete Avista's Forklift certification training and completion of Avista's Fundamentals of Natural Gas within six (6) months of employment.
  • Must possess basic computer skills.

This position has an estimated start date of July 14, 2025. There will be 4-6 weeks of required training at our Spokane, WA training facility.
