We are seeking a driven and detail-oriented Buyer to purchase materials, supplies, and services in a fast-paced production facility. Responsibilities will include processing purchase orders, negotiating with suppliers, tracking orders, and collaborating with the engineering, quality, inventory, and accounts payable teams to resolve any issues.

We are seeking a driven and detail-oriented Buyer to purchase materials, supplies, and services in a fast-paced production facility. Responsibilities will include processing purchase orders, negotiating with suppliers, tracking orders, and collaborating with the engineering, quality, inventory, and accounts payable teams to resolve any issues.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Review requests for assigned materials, parts and/or services and verify specifications. Source components or services and ensure timely preparation and communication of RFQ's.
- Analyze and evaluate bids to determine optimum value; negotiate price, delivery, payment terms and place purchase orders while complying to local and Corporate Operating Procedures and the Ethical Code of Conduct.
- Expedite delivery of items by contacting vendors and logistics to ensure that components, supplies and equipment are sent on the specified shipping date.
- Negotiate and resolve any quality rejections, losses, return of materials, over-shipments, cancellations and engineering changes with suppliers.
- Assist other departments with problem resolution involving discrepancies between purchase orders, delivered quantities, quality and/or price.
- Monitor and evaluate critical supplier performance. Implement corrective actions to resolve supplier failures that may delay production or delivery.
- Develop and maintain supplier relationships on an on-going basis. Evaluate supplier performance and recommend additions or deletions to the approved supplier database. Identify and qualify new suppliers.
- Identify cost saving opportunities and assist in developing innovative approaches to supply chain management to achieve yearly cost reduction targets set by executive team.
- Participate in Budget reviews and work with Finance team on setting cost standards for parts.
- Provide quality service by following organization standards.
- Comply with all NOV Company and HSE policies and procedures.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field.
- 5 years of experience in production facility with a working knowledge of procurement methods, procedures and processes.
- Familiarization with manufacturing and service environment.
- Experience purchasing in a fast paced Engineered-to-Order or Make-to-Order manufacturing environment preferred.
- Experience working in ERP systems (JDE experience preferred, but other ERP experience will be considered).
- Working knowledge of MS Office, especially proficient in the use of Excel.
