HVAC - Crew Leader
Purpose Statement
The job of HVAC - Crew Leader is done for the purpose/s of providing direction and leadership in the maintenance of all district facilities and maintaining district facilities for students, staff and public in safe operating condition; maintaining a preventive maintenance program; performing skilled maintenance in installing, repairing, and maintaining heating/air conditioning systems to resolve immediate operational and/or safety Concerns.

Learning Development- Level D Specialized vocational or technical knowledge providing a command of certain technical, administrative, and/or operative practices and techniques. Learning development involves the completion of a formal technical/vocational curriculum often resulting in a degree.

Solutions may be somewhat technical, yet are relatively straightforward, obvious and well-defined once problems are understood. Responses come from the realm of prior learning and experiences.

HVAC - Crew Leader
Purpose Statement
The job of HVAC - Crew Leader is done for the purpose/s of providing direction and leadership in the maintenance of all district facilities and maintaining district facilities for students, staff and public in safe operating condition; maintaining a preventive maintenance program; performing skilled maintenance in installing, repairing, and maintaining heating/air conditioning systems to resolve immediate operational and/or safety Concerns.
Essential Functions
- Attends meetings and workshops for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
- Coordinates with Supervisor and other trades (e.g. work orders, emergency needs, etc.) for the purpose of completing projects and work orders efficiently.
- Participate in technician evaluation, review and interview procedures.
- Diagnoses problems and/or failures in heating/air conditioning/refrigeration systems and/or generators for the purpose of identifying equipment and/or systems repair and replacement needs.
- Informs personnel regarding procedures and/or status of work orders for the purpose of providing necessary information for making decisions, taking appropriate action, and/or complying with health and safety regulations.
- Inspects and/or oversees inspection of facilities, systems and their components, for the purpose of ensuring safety and identifying necessary repairs and providing an ongoing program of preventive maintenance.
- Installs and/or oversees installation of heating/air conditioning/refrigeration equipment and systems for the purpose of providing comfort inside facilities.
- Maintains tools and equipment for the purpose of ensuring the availability of items in safe operating condition.
- Orders equipment and supplies for the purpose of maintaining inventory and ensuring availability of required items.
- Prepares documentation (e.g. budget, requests for bids from vendors, time and material cost estimates, requisitions, drawings, etc.) for the purpose of providing written support and/or conveying information.
- Recommends procedures and/or actions (e.g. equipment, products, vendors, etc.) for the purpose of providing information and/or direction that ensures efficient operation of maintenance service and regulatory compliance.
- Repairs and/or oversees repairs of various items, systems and/or components (e.g. chillers, cooling towers, exhaust fans, ice makers, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that items are available and in safe working condition.
- Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
- Provides leadership to assigned personnel (e.g. schedules, trains, recommends, evaluates, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring department functions are performed efficiently and in conformance with required safety and regulatory standards.
- Transport various items (e.g. tools, equipment, supplies, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of materials required at the job site.
Other Functions
