Job Description

The position assists the Projects Supervisor in providing degasification and abandoned mine verification drilling services for Iron Senergy's Cumberland Mine. The position will also assist the Projects Manager in the construction and maintenance of in-mine gas lines and the plugging of in-mine directionally drilled boreholes prior to mining.

Major Responsibilities
  • Perform in-mine directional drilling
  • Provide support in the plugging of in-mine directional drilled boreholes
  • Maintain drill and associated equipment
  • Assist in the construction of in-mine gas lines
  • Perform weekly gas line maintenance
  • Coordinate with mine management on tracking information associated with drill plots
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Projects Supervisor

Qualifications

Job Specific and/or Technical Skills Required
  • General knowledge of directional drilling monitor (DDM) survey system
  • Familiar with horizontal borehole design and drilling methods
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to develop good working relationships with mine management at all levels and disciplines, as well as with hourly personnel
  • Strong written communication skills

Certification and Experience Requirements
  • Pennsylvania Bituminous Miner and Machine Operator Certification (or experience to acquire within 30 days)
  • Strong knowledge of directional drilling components
  • Pennsylvania Assistant Mine Foreman Certification strongly preferred but not required
