The CRC Accounting Department is seeking to fill an Accounting Supervisor position. This position will be located in Bakersfield, CA.
The base annual salary for this posted position is expected to range from $110k - $140K, with a target annual bonus of 15% of base salary and eligibility to participate in our long-term incentive program. They supervise a team, handle cost accounting, prepare budgets, analyze variances, and participate in financial reporting and closing processes.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee a team of accountants, including hiring, training, performance evaluations, and professional development.
- Monitor and analyze plant costs, including labor, materials, and expenses, and prepare reports for management.
- Preparation of annual budgets, monitor actual costs against budget, and identify variances.
- Prepare financial statements (e.g., income statement, balance sheet) and reports for regulatory agencies and internal stakeholders
- Ensure adherence to accounting standards (e.g., GAAP) and relevant regulations (e.g., SEC regulations).
- Maintain and improve internal controls to ensure the accuracy and reliability of financial data.
- Manage the month-end closing process, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
- Analyze variances between actual and budgeted costs and investigate significant discrepancies.
- Oversee the accounting for plant assets, including capitalization, depreciation, and disposals.
- Communicate financial information to plant management, coordinate with other departments, and collaborate on projects.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
- 7+ years of experience in accounting, with supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial regulations, and GAAP.
- Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (Oracle).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective leadership, team management, and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial data.
- Knowledge of relevant regulations, including those specific to the power plant industry.
