As a member of the Operations team, the HVAC Technical Support and Service Associate is responsible for providing technical service and support and training support for the equipment brands and products that we sell to Johnstone Supply Customers.

As a member of the Operations team, the HVAC Technical Support and Service Associate is responsible for providing technical service and support and training support for the equipment brands and products that we sell to Johnstone Supply Customers.
Position responsibilities:
- Troubleshoots HVAC equipment malfunctions, diagnose the root cause of problems, and propose appropriate repair solutions. This includes identifying faulty components, electrical issues, refrigerant leaks, or inadequate airflow, and implementing corrective measures efficiently.
- Performs preventive maintenance on HVAC systems to ensure efficient operation, identify potential issues, and extend equipment lifespan. This involves inspecting, cleaning, lubricating, and adjusting components such as motors, fans, belts, bearings, filters, and thermostats.
- Conducts installation of new heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems in accordance with manufacturer specifications, industry standards, and building codes. This includes handling equipment placement, ductwork installation, electrical connections, and system testing.
- Visits Johnstone Supply stores to assist with unit repairs as needed.
- Analyzes and effectively troubleshoots and communicates technical service issues with contractors, business owners, and management.
- Direct communication with the Technical Service Manager, other Technical Service Associates, Regional Managers, Branch Managers, Warehouse Managers, Sales staff, Vendors / Manufacture representatives, Johnstone Supply personnel, concerning technical service issues, as needed.
- Performs site customer visits as needed.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all business, customer, and vendor information.
HVAC-R Technical Support & Training:
- Conducts training sessions and workshops for HVAC-R technicians, both in a classroom setting and hands-on practical environments. Utilize effective instructional techniques, visual aids, demonstrations, and interactive activities to facilitate learning and skill development.
- Maintains technical knowledge and training needed to provide efficient and effective technical assistance for equipment and products sold by Johnstone Supply.
- Provides technical service assistance to customers and clients during normal work hours and on call hours as scheduled.
- Review and communicate "Technical Service Bulletins" to JTeam personnel as needed.
- Attends meetings, classes, training sessions, and vendor training sessions.
- Maintains knowledge of new and existing products and inventory by participating in training, studying Johnstone and industry catalogs and web sites, and seeking knowledge.
Position requirements:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required for this role; at least five years of experience of technical and troubleshooting knowledgeable of the residential and commercial HVAC/R equipment and products in HVAC-R; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Hold a valid Texas Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Contractor License.
Technical Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Basic computer skills for email, job logging, and training.
- Advanced knowledge of HVAC equipment, components, controls, and electrical systems.
- Ability to Troubleshoot HVAC equipment malfunctions, diagnose the root cause of problems, and propose appropriate solutions.
- Ability to perform installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of various HVAC systems, such as furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, boilers, chillers, and ventilation systems.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
Process Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to maintain accurate records of all service calls, including details of work performed, parts used, and recommendations made.
- Ability to adhere to all safety guidelines, codes, regulations, and industry best practices while performing HVAC tasks.
- Ability to Ensure proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials, and consistently follow established safety protocols.
- Ability to stay updated with the latest advancements, trends, and regulations in the HVAC industry through self-study, training sessions, workshops, and relevant certifications.
- Ability to apply acquired knowledge to improve technical skills and provide exceptional service.
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

- Ability to demonstrate tact and diplomacy in dealing with others.
