JOB DESCRIPTION

About the Role

As the Director of Customer Engagement at NOV Subsea Production Systems (SPS), you shall plan, direct, and coordinate team activities to ensure that goals or objectives are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters.

The overall purpose of the Customer Engagement team is to:

  • perform account management, deepen customer relations and stakeholder management
  • gather market and customer data & information, consolidate into actionable and meaningful insights for SPS
  • identify, mature and prioritize opportunities for the entire SPS product portfolio, resulting in a fully developed and insight-based pursuit rationale
  • oversee and continuously improve early engagement business processes


This high-impact leadership role is pivotal in enhancing NOV's strategic positioning in a competitive subsea market. It involves close collaboration with New Product Development and Commercial Operations, as well as travel to key sites and customer locations worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

Team management

  • Participate and contribute as member of the sales management team
  • Continuously assess and develop the team capability and capacity through team leadership
  • Collaborate and prioritize work with sales team peers responsible for New Product Development and Commercial Operations
  • Develop and document the business process
  • Contribute to efficiency improvements in the overall sales process, implementation of AI, including building cases for such


Account Management

  • Empower and support the team:
  • Originate key new deep client relations
  • Achieve early identification of leads to pursue and prioritize
  • Build deep customer understanding before tenders, to be able to influence the scope to NOV
  • Enable additional sales of Subsea Products and wider NOV portfolio
  • Recommend the need for strategic partnering / contracting
  • Collaborate with wider NOV business development team for leveraging cross business unit intelligence, capture leads and opportunities
  • Represent Company at customer meetings.
  • Monitor customer satisfaction with NOV project delivery performance.
  • Facilitate sharing of intelligence through wider NOV


Opportunity funnel maturation

  • Empower and support the team:
  • Identify, administrate, mature and prioritize opportunities
  • Collaborate with relevant internal stakeholders
  • Develop pursuit rationale based on market, customer, opportunity, competitive intelligence
  • Recommend on strategic planning for new products based on market insights, customer feedback, trends, business case and NOV's competency
  • Fully understand lost opportunities, why, to whom and at which price by taking part of project's lessons learned process in collaboration with the commercial operations team.
  • Ensure consolidation of market, customer, competitor data and information into actionable insights for SPS


Qualifications & Skills

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Business
  • 10+ years of Commercial or Sales management experience, preferably in an "engineered-to-order" business
  • Proven experience managing teams with the ability to develop capabilities and foster collaboration
  • Computer literacy (including excellent command of Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point and Outlook)
  • CRM Experience and ambassador
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken
  • Strong analytical, planning, and customer relationship management skills


Desired Qualifications:

  • An understanding of the Subsea Offshore Oil & Gas industry components and their application
  • Familiarity with Power BI or similar data visualization tools
  • Track record in early engagement or value-based sales approaches
  • Strategic mindset with technical affinity
  • Understanding of the offshore subsea market landscape
  • Experience leveraging customer insights to influence scope and increase win rates
