Job Purpose:
The O&G Controller will be responsible for all accounting aspects of the SandBox business (forecasting, analysis, management reporting, accounting operations, and internal controls and compliance), under the guidance of the VP- Accounting & Finance. The O&G Controller will be required to interact frequently with members of the SandBox operations team and other functional areas (Corporate Accounting and External Reporting as well as with Corporate Financial Planning and Analysis) to support them in the decision-making processes. The Controller will be supported by a team of four accounting professionals, of which three are direct reports.

Essential Job Functions:
- Manager with three 4 Direct Reports (Responsible for Hiring, Discipline, Training, Performance, etc.)
- Manage a team of accounting personnel supporting operations among several shale basins throughout the US.
- Lead the preparation of timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Create and analyze monthly/quarterly reports, including variance analysis as well as explanations for results.
- Responsible for compliance with internal controls and company policies/procedures, ensuring complete accounting integrity
- Support the company's annual audits
- Review balance sheet account reconciliations and facilitate resolution of issues.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.
- Maintain systematic, repeatable, sustainable, and documented processes for all accounting operations
- Determine appropriate accounting treatment for contracts, in conjunction with Corporate Accounting and Technical Accounting
- Actively participate in systems implementation project teams to ensure appropriate accounting and internal controls
- Work with each direct report to establish annual goals and monitor their progress. Mentor and develop their accounting and financial analysis skills.
- Responsible for the implementation of new procedures and features to enhance workflow and promote internal efficiency.
Required Education, Knowledge, and Skills:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
- CPA or in the process of testing for the CPA preferred
- 7+ years of relevant experience in accounting field showing consistent career progression
- Overall understanding and application of GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements
- Ability to manage critical deadlines and adapt/prioritize in a dynamic work environment
- Can create and maintain complex spreadsheets without error
- Ability to critically analyze data to identify and explain variances
- Detail oriented, maintaining comprehensive documentation to support financial statements
- Effective communication through clear and concise expression of concepts both in writing and verbally to all levels of the organization
- Ability to develop new and unique approaches to new, existing, or traditional situations
- Self-motivated while coachable and a team player
- Demonstrate the highest ethical standards
- Experience in the oil and gas industry is preferred
