Overview
An established international marine operations company is seeking a Contract Manager to lead the Contract Management Unit, overseeing all pre-award and post-award contractual activities for marine repair projects. This critical role combines legal, commercial, operational, and risk management responsibilities to safeguard company interests and support successful project delivery in a highly dynamic and multi-cultural environment.
Key Responsibilities
Contract Implementation & Compliance

Ensure strict compliance with maritime regulations, industry standards, contractual obligations, and company policies.

Stay abreast of regulatory changes and best practices to mitigate legal, reputational, and operational risks.
Pre-Award Contract Strategy

Develop pre-award strategies to secure favourable contractual terms, addressing risk exposure and protecting company interests.

Review and negotiate contract terms including company standard terms, BIMCO Repaircon, and client-specific terms and conditions.
Risk Management

Identify, evaluate, and mitigate risks associated with contracts, including operational disruptions, financial liabilities, and compliance breaches.

Implement proactive risk management strategies aligned with company objectives.
Contract Administration

Oversee full contract lifecycle management including drafting, negotiation, execution, amendments, renewals, and closure.

Ensure accurate and organised contract documentation and reporting.
Communication & Stakeholder Collaboration

Liaise effectively with internal teams (operations, finance, legal, project management) to ensure alignment on contractual matters.

Engage constructively with external clients, subcontractors, and third parties to facilitate contract execution and issue resolution.
Legal Advisory & Dispute Resolution

Support legal teams (internal and external) on contractual disputes, negotiations, and legal proceedings to protect company interests.

Advise project management teams on contractual disputes to ensure timely resolution while maintaining client relationships.
Warranty & Project Closure

Manage project warranties and oversee proper closure of project contractual obligations.

Advise management on potential risks identified during warranty periods.
Manpower Development

Establish capability-building initiatives to ensure the team is equipped to meet current and future project demands.

Support a positive, motivated, and ethical workplace culture across a diverse and international workforce.
Documentation & Control

Implement effective document control systems ensuring all project records are organised and readily available for audits and project closeouts.
Continuous Improvement

Drive continuous improvement initiatives across contract management processes, systems, and tools to enhance efficiency, transparency, and accountability.
Health, Safety and Environment (HSE)

Ensure strict adherence to company HSE policies and foster a safety-first culture across operations.
Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Law, Engineering, or equivalent discipline.

Minimum 10 years’ experience in Marine Repair Contract Management and Operations Management.

Strong leadership, negotiation, and dispute resolution skills.

Comprehensive knowledge of maritime regulations, contract law, and commercial risk management.

Proven ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder contracts in high-pressure environments.

Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to foster positive relationships across multi-national and cross-cultural teams.
