The key objectives for this role are:
  • Provides comprehensive cost, planning, scheduling and risk assessment support to assignments / project teams and clients, typically on smaller projects without dedicated project control discipline teams. Sets up and runs all required project controls systems, tools, and interfaces to enable the successful management and reporting of the project costs, schedule and risk on projects and assignments.
  • Supports the Service Line / Project Manager in the collation, analysis and reporting of project cost, scheduling, and risk data.
  • A wide ranging and hands on role that interfaces with several key stakeholders across the project. Provides coaching and guidance to less experienced project controllers.


RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
  • Develop, review, and manage detailed construction schedules using tools like Primavera P6, ensuring alignment with baseline timelines.
  • Monitor and report site progress, identifying delays and recommending recovery actions to maintain project milestones.
  • Lead cost control activities at the site level, including tracking budgets, validating expenditures, and flagging potential overruns.
  • Evaluate and document scope changes, integrating them into revised cost and schedule forecasts.
  • Implement Earned Value Management (EVM) principles to assess performance and support data-driven reporting.
  • Prepare and present weekly and monthly performance dashboards, including KPIs, cost variances, and productivity indices.
  • Coordinate closely with construction and engineering teams to validate progress reports and resolve planning discrepancies on-site.
  • Act as the central point of contact for project control activities at site level, liaising with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist in identifying and managing site-specific risks impacting cost and schedule, contributing to mitigation planning.
  • Ensure compliance with company project controls procedures and governance standards through regular internal checks.
  • Supervise and mentor site-based project controls personnel, including planners, cost engineers, and document controllers.
  • Support audits and management reviews by ensuring readiness and availability of site-based cost and schedule documentation.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical discipline; a master's degree is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 20 years of progressive experience in project controls, with at least 10 years in a managerial role overseeing large-scale, site-based projects.
  • Extensive expertise in cost control, planning and scheduling, progress measurement, and earned value management across EPC and multidisciplinary industrial projects.
  • Proven track record of leading project control teams on complex construction sites in the oil & gas, energy, or infrastructure sectors.
  • Advanced proficiency in project control tools and software, including Primavera P6, MS Project, and Excel-based cost control systems.
  • In-depth understanding of contract administration, procurement workflows, budgeting, and change management processes.
  • Familiarity with international project standards (e.g., AACE, PMI, FIDIC) and corporate governance requirements.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities with experience managing diverse, cross-functional teams under high-pressure environments.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills for coordination with clients, consultants, contractors, and executive management.
  • Certifications such as PMP, CCP (Certified Cost Professional), or PSP (Planning & Scheduling Professional) are highly preferred.
