Our frontline operations can vary from a team of ~60 at a major airport through to a team of 2 at a general aviation site, and can be located in major cities through to very remote locations globally.
This role supports Air bp's professional design and project engineering service creating safe, reliable and compliant designs of fixed and mobile aviation fuel storage and distribution facilities, including fuel hydrants, for Regions and Third Party Technical Service Agreement (TSA) customers.

Computer Aided Design (CAD)
- Provide and lead the CAD service to bp Aviation and the Technical Sales Agreement (TSA) customers. This is at Concept and Front End Engineering Design (FEED) level and in detailed piping/pipelines design for aviation fuel storage and distribution facilities.
- Creation and modification of design drawings and graphics for Aviation fuelling facilities using AutoCAD in support of engineering and business development projects.
- Design analysis using Computerised Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Vehicle Tracking software suites.
- Creation of asbuilt drawings, including data gathering by carrying out surveys.
- Creation and modification of drawings for Senior Engineer approval
- Designer of bespoke piping solutions
- Owner of the Aviation Drawing Database keep standard drawings up to date and mange the asbuilt drawing library, coordinating their updates as required
Subject Matter Expertise (SME)- Magnetic filtration
Project Management
- Lead and deliver global projects as delegated by the Global Engineering Senior Manager
- Contract Accountable Manager (CAM) for global suppliers and global contractors used to deliver projects
Project Controls- Own and lead the project numbering and stage boundary compliance for Aviation projects.
Project Engineering
- KPI owner for selected design projects
- Support the rollout and ongoing management of Aviation's Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
- Support aviation's engineering based Technical Services business; this could include involvement in development of offers, support of frontend engineering design (FEED) through to being part of the project team on site
- Lead the upkeep and stewardship of relevant aviation operating and maintenance standards keeping alignment with industry practice, bp Group regulations and local legislation in the area of technical design
- Support the Global Design Lead to produce preairfield, depot and hydrant designs for internal and ThirdParty customers (including JVs), with a main focus on Concept and FEED for preairfield and depot, and detailed piping design for hydrants
- Provide technical input and engineering support relating to designs and specification in area of expertise

- Supervise and develop junior members of the team, in particular with CAD related activities.

Essential Education: Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, or similar
Essential Software Experience:
- AutoCAD Mastery
- A Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) package (expert in modelling magnetic filtration essential)
- Expert Microsoft Office skills
- Microsoft PowerApps
- A Geographical Information Systems (GIS) package (e.g. ArcGIS)
Essential Design Experience:
- Extensive design and drafting experience in piping design in the petrochemical or similar industry, including experience in multidisciplinary projects and teams
- Site layout design
- Process design
Essential Engineering Experience:
- CFD modelling of magnetic filtration in fuel systems (Aviation fuels desirable)
- Inspection and maintenance (I&M) using Computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS')
- Risk assessment and management
- Management of Change
- Ability to work under pressure and to meet tight deadlines
Desirable Design Experience: Aviation infrastructure knowledge
