Refrigerant Pipefitter

The Refrigeration Pipefitter is responsible for installing, assembling, maintaining, and repairing refrigeration piping systems used in commercial and industrial HVAC and refrigeration applications. This role requires knowledge of blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings, as well as strong skills in brazing, welding, and working with various piping materials.

Key Responsibilities:
- Install and assemble refrigeration piping systems using copper, steel, and other materials.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine layout and installation procedures.
- Perform brazing and soldering on refrigeration lines and components.
- Install compressors, condensers, evaporators, receivers, and other refrigeration equipment.
- Pressure test piping systems to check for leaks using nitrogen or other approved methods.
- Ensure piping systems comply with local, state, and federal codes and regulations.
- Assist in the startup, testing, and troubleshooting of refrigeration systems.
- Work collaboratively with project managers, other trades, and contractors on job sites.
- Maintain a safe work environment by following all company safety policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED; technical or trade school certification preferred.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in refrigeration pipefitting or a similar mechanical role.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting technical documents and blueprints.
- Skilled in brazing, soldering, threading, and mechanical joint installations.
- Familiar with refrigerants and associated piping standards.
- EPA Universal Certification preferred.
- Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.
- Must have own hand tools and reliable transportation.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to stand, crouch, and work in tight spaces for extended periods.
- Must be able to work in hot or cold environments depending on job site conditions.
Working Conditions:
- May be required to travel to various job sites.
- Work may occur in indoor mechanical rooms or outdoor construction environments.
