The Discounts Lead Accountant will work alongside Product line Finance & Operations driving optimal performance and linkage to our reserve methodologies and project execution for the Discounts Controllership Team. Spare part discounts is a key part of the GE Aerospace Services portfolio. Responsible for driving technical accounting compliance, financial and operational internal controls, process simplification, and operational excellence to deliver accurate actual financial reporting and analysis. Necessary to utilize in-depth understanding of key business drivers and knowledge of best practices to accomplish tasks while considering how own area integrates with others.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Closing, reporting and processing of various back-end discounts in Spares new material.
  • Alignment to various customer teams relative to their contracts/customers and issuance of back- end rebates
  • Provide input to balance sheet reviews, including pre-close and deep dives relative to discounts
  • Identify and implement simplification initiatives for Discounts accounting, closing and reporting
  • Develop skills and apply FLIGHT DECK principles.
  • Understand and interpret applicable Enterprise Standards, SOPs and Process Maps
  • Ad-hoc research and projects to support business needs, including timely resolution of issues
  • Responsible for ensuring alignment to GAAP and GE policies throughout the accounting process.
  • Inform FP&A counterparts & Prod line Finance discount forecasts with support to understand data needed for discounts forecasts
  • Account reconciliation preparation as well as peer review
  • External audit contact


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 3 years of experience in finance/accounting
