Position Overview: We are actively seeking a highly skilled Nuclear Fuel Handling Resident Engineer to provide essential oversight in fuel handling design and fabrication. As a key member of a dedicated team, you will collaborate with engineers and scientists in pioneering the future of advanced nuclear technology.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee vendor design and delivery of nuclear fuel handling systems and equipment, ensuring conformance to requirements from inception through to final delivery.
  • Provide support for vendor oversight concerning the design, fabrication, construction, and testing of equipment.
  • Personally coordinate and supervise design and fabrication efforts, offering regular on-site guidance and support.
  • Offer technical direction regarding Supplier Conformance Requests (SCR) and ensure timely and effective communication for prompt resolutions.
  • Facilitate vendor design review meetings, weekly status updates, and other critical design discussions, maintaining a streamlined workflow.
  • Ensure timely input coordination to minimize potential schedule delays and cost overruns.
  • Develop and deliver high-quality design outputs, including 3D CAD models, calculations, requirements documentation, and interface control documents.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant design codes and regulatory requirements such as ASME, ANS, ASTM, ASHRAE, IEEE, NFPA.
  • Actively present designs and participate in comprehensive design reviews, proposing and defining testing programs.
  • Provide steadfast support and oversight during testing phases, including evaluation and reporting of results.

Key Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred; candidates with degrees in other engineering disciplines may be considered based on relevant experience. M.S. and Doctorate degrees may be credited with up to two and four years of experience, respectively.
  • Experience: A minimum of 15 years of mechanical design experience is required, with extensive knowledge in system and equipment design and qualification. Familiarity with system operation, maintenance, and fabrication is also advantageous.
  • Skills:
  • Exceptional technical writing, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Strong ability to communicate openly and effectively, fostering a collaborative and respectful team environment.
