Reporting to the Head of Sustainability Performance Excellence, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the integration of THE LINE Proponent's ambitious sustainability objectives and environmental requirements into design delivery. These objectives form part of a broader vision to redefine urban living and address some of the most pressing environmental challenges facing our planet.

During design development stages, you will work closely with relevant stakeholders across NEOM to embed sustainability requirements within procurement, scope development, and the management of City Infrastructure Engineers and Early Works designers. This includes oversight of Marine and Industrialized Construction consultants, as well as contributing to the onboarding process of Community and Anchor Asset Engineers.

Core Competencies:

As a Sustainability Senior Manager, your core responsibilities typically revolve around ensuring that all design packages comply with NEOM frameworks, policies, and procedures and applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.

Compliance Leadership:
  • Ensuring that all community and asset designs comply with NEOM frameworks, procedures, green rating systems (e.g., LEED, Envision), and applicable environmental laws and regulations.

Design Integration:
  • Overseeing the inclusion of sustainability requirements within design documentation, including technical specifications, drawings, and design criteria.

Decarbonization Expertise:
  • Providing strategic advice on decarbonization pathways, including carbon budgeting, life cycle assessments (LCA), and Net Zero alignment.

Carbon Reporting:
  • Promoting low-carbon design solutions and ensuring systematic carbon data reporting and communication during the design phases.

Resource Efficiency:
  • Advising on energy and water reduction strategies that support broader environmental and performance goals.

Risk Management:
  • Assessing sustainability compliance risks, developing mitigation strategies, and monitoring risk indicators across project phases.

Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Collaborating with internal teams, external partners, regulatory bodies, and auditors to maintain compliance and strengthen performance alignment.

Performance Tracking:
  • Developing frameworks to monitor and report on key sustainability KPIs, including energy efficiency, water use, waste, and carbon emissions.

Global Alignment:
  • Ensuring project outcomes support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the IFC Performance Standards, in alignment with NEOM's overarching sustainability commitments.

Leadership & Coordination:
  • Leading and mentoring sustainability team members, encouraging a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Project Procurement & Oversight:
  • Supporting the integration of sustainability into consultant selection, including:
  • Scope of work development and contractual integration.
  • Proposal review and evaluation (technical and commercial).
  • Consultant onboarding and ongoing performance review.
  • Monitoring compliance with NEOM procedures and sustainability standards.
  • Tracking and reporting on sustainability KPIs and consultant performance.

Team Objectives:
  • Contributing to the achievement of THE LINE Projects Sustainability team's KPIs and strategic targets.

Other Responsibilities:
  • Carrying out additional tasks as assigned by the Head of Sustainability Performance Excellence.
  • People management experience is an asset, as is international experience, i.e. outside your home country, as well as experience in diverse functional areas relevant to Sustainability Management activities.

Core Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering is required. A master's degree in sustainability, environmental science, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in engineering, sustainability, or green infrastructure design.
  • Proven success integrating sustainability into complex, multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Track record of delivering certified sustainable projects under LEED and Envision.
  • Up-to-date expertise in carbon reporting, whole life carbon, and low-carbon design.
