THE COMPANY

OnSite Energy is a Montana-owned solar power contractor based out of Bozeman and Missoula, specializing in solar electric (photovoltaic) project development, design, and installation. OnSite Energy is a Certified B Corporation that is fully committed to using business as a force for good and has met the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance. This includes our company's impact on our employees, customers, community, and the environment.

THE JOB

OnSite Energy is looking for enthusiastic, positive, self-motivated individuals to join our solar installation crew. We have a regular flow of commercial and residential solar photovoltaic (PV) projects in Missoula, Bozeman, and across Montana. Ideal applicants are open to travel and working on-the-road, have construction and/or electrical skills and must be comfortable working on roofs and outdoors in variable weather conditions. Positions are full-time, and require occasional overnight travel for out-of-town projects. We are looking for career-oriented minds interested in becoming solar professionals. We offer competitive pay with a great benefits package, including health insurance and retirement plans. Full benefits and job description are available upon request.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Crew Leader is responsible for the successful installation of the solar scope of assigned projects. They will report to the Missoula Field Operations Manager and work closely with the Project Manager and, at times, electrical subcontractors. They will supervise a crew of installers and, at times, communicate with clients. They will complete their scope of work in a timely manner and meet OnSite quality standards. The Crew Leader is responsible for documenting as-built photos, notes, and drawing markups at project completion and will provide daily and weekly progress reports through company-specific software as well as verbal discussion with the Project Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Plan Installation:
  • Meet with the Project Manager and Filed Operations Manager at start of project and as necessary to determine the installation details and schedule.
  • Review assigned project details and drawings and organize installers, and delegate prep work, and prepare necessary tools and vehicles.
  • Work with Field Operations Manager on per-job materials checklist to pack and un-pack prior to and at project end to assure inventory numbers remain stable.
  • Assure vehicles are clean, organized, fueled, and stocked with necessary materials.

Supervise Installation:
  • Track all labor hours per job and provide guidance to installers in doing the same. Classify for prep, travel, and installation-specific tasks.
  • Perform initial on-site job hazard analysis and initial site prep plan for crew and delegate installers accordingly.
  • Ensure that all safety and quality standards are met including initial anchor-setting and identifying other PPE needs. Supervise all installers in these areas and coach when necessary, training new installers on-the-job until autonomous.
  • In the absence of the Field Operations Manager, make all decisions on the job-site. Call the Project Manager or Field Operations Manager for consultation when necessary. Refer all customer questions to Project Manager.
  • Determine and execute construction layout and all installation tasks within scope.
  • Inform Project Manager and stakeholders of job progress through company-specific mobile software(s).
  • Maintain the appearance and attitude of self and crew while on residential and commercial job sites.
  • For projects located out of town an added element of supervision outside of normal working hours becomes necessary in terms of managing crew dynamics "off the clock".

Document Installation:
  • Marking drawings with as-built information
  • Completing all necessary photography of the scope and uploading to cloud storage.
  • Communicate and share as-built design changes with both Project Management and Design Teams
