The Opportunity:
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Sustainment Manager to join our Defence sector team in Melbourne on a part-time basis. As a key member of our Managed Service Provider (MSP) workforce, you will be responsible for ensuring the ongoing support, sustainment, and optimisation of mission-critical Defence assets, systems, and capabilities.
You will work closely with CASG, OEMs, and other key stakeholders to deliver sustainment planning, lifecycle management, performance monitoring, and issue resolution, ensuring alignment with contractual obligations and Defence strategic objectives.

All candidates will be required to hold and maintain an active NV1 Defence Security Clearance. Only candidates holding a NV1 Clearance or above should apply.

Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage sustainment activities across assigned platforms, systems, or equipment.
- Develop and implement Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) and Through-Life Support (TLS) strategies.
- Monitor sustainment performance metrics and provide regular reporting to key stakeholders.
- Ensure effective configuration management, asset management, and obsolescence planning.
- Collaborate with engineering, logistics, and procurement teams to ensure availability and reliability of systems.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and cost analysis for sustainment activities.
- Liaise with Defence personnel, industry partners, and internal teams to resolve sustainment issues.
- Maintain compliance with Defence policy, assurance frameworks, and applicable regulations.
As the ideal candidate you will bring:
- Degree qualifications in Engineering, Logistics, Project Management or related discipline.
- Previous experience in a Sustainment Manager, ILS Manager, or Asset Manager role within the Defence industry.
- Proven knowledge of Defence sustainment practices, ideally within CASG or similar environments.
- Strong understanding of ILS, systems engineering, and through-life asset management.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Experience working for or alongside an MSP is highly desirable.
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities in a part-time capacity.
- Familiarity with the One Defence Capability System (ODCS) and ASDEFCON contracting frameworks.
- Exposure to SAP, MILIS, or other Defence logistics/ERP systems.
