The Opportunity:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Purchasing Officer to join our defence procurement team in Melbourne. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in procurement processes, with specific experience in Foreign Military Sales (FMS), and must hold a current NV1 security clearance. This role is pivotal in ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services to support defence operations.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage end-to-end procurement processes in compliance with defence procurement policies and regulations.
  • Coordinate and execute Foreign Military Sales (FMS) transactions, ensuring adherence to international trade compliance standards.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with domestic and international suppliers to ensure reliable supply chains.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements to achieve optimal terms and conditions.
  • Monitor and report on procurement activities, budgets, and supplier performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to forecast procurement needs and develop sourcing strategies.

As the ideal candidate you will bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in procurement, preferably within the defence sector.
  • Proven experience with Foreign Military Sales (FMS) processes and regulations.
  • Strong understanding of defence procurement frameworks and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.

All candidates will be required to hold and maintain an active NV1 Defence Security Clearance. Only candidates holding a NV1 Clearance or above should apply.
