Position: Project Manager, Portland Solar for All

Reports to: Sr. Program Manager - Market Ready Renewable Energy

Compensation*: Competitive starting salary $70,200 - $87,000 commensurate with skills and experience, Full Pay Range: $70,200 - $103,800

Our Location

Energy Trust provides for a range of work location options, including remote, hybrid and in-office work. This position will represent Energy Trust in public settings and potentially at community events. We are open to candidates who live throughout Oregon and Washington. The Project Manager would be expected to report to the office on a quarterly basis, at minimum.

What We're Looking For:

The Project Manager - Portland Solar for All will support development and implementation of a new five-year initiative to increase deployment of solar to benefit people with low incomes. The Portland Solar for All program is funded by grants from the Portland Clean Energy Benefits Fund (PCEF) and the federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Solar for All program paired with public purpose funds from Energy Trust of Oregon. This position will collaborate with grant partners and internal support groups to achieve program goals to install solar and storage systems to benefit households with low incomes, including enabling upgrades such as roof repairs and to complete workforce development activities to support opportunities in the construction trades.

This individual reports to the Sr. Program Manager - Market-Ready Renewable Energy.

This position is expected to report to the Portland office quarterly at a minimum for all staff and other in-person meetings.

What You'll Do:
  • Assist the Program Manager - Portland Solar for All in developing and implementing a program in close collaboration with partnered community organizations. Work effectively with partners and solar and roofing contractors to recruit low-income households and multifamily developers to install solar and storage systems. Ensure that commitments outlined in community partnership agreements are fulfilled.
  • Work closely with the Sr. Project Manager - Solar for All to align development resources and timelines for the PCEF and EPA funded projects. Apply project management best practices to manage time-sensitive tasks, deliverables and reporting related to development and delivery of program offerings.
  • Collaborate with multiple program partners, including community-based organizations and workforce development partners, to ensure that program development work and implementation are aligned and coordinated to meet program objectives.
  • Under the direction of the Program Manager - Portland Solar for All, manage deliverables for subcontracts with partner organizations and related annual budgets of up to $0.5 million total.
  • With the Program Manager and Energy Trust's Operations Team, implement comprehensive grant reporting and tracking processes that ensure compliance with PCEF, EPA and Oregon Public Utility Commission requirements.
  • Collaborate with Energy Trust's solar delivery team to manage relationships with trade allies and implement quality management practices.
  • Work with partners to understand and address barriers to completion of solar projects on households with low incomes. Support the development of education and outreach materials and other resources to support these projects.
  • Support customers, contractors and partners participating in the Portland Solar for All program, providing assistance and problem solving.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Perform all functions of the job in a safe manner.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities but may oversee the work of contractors, suppliers or vendors as necessary while managing specific program components and other efforts.

Requirements

What You'll Need:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline (engineering, science, economics, business, finance, or environmental science preferred) or equivalent professional experience.
  • 3 years of experience in program development or implementation, project management or contract management.
  • Successful experience working within multidisciplinary teams. Must be able to interact with a diverse workforce and be comfortable working in culturally diverse settings and groups.
  • Ability to manage and track multiple work streams happening simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of solar technologies preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word software applications.
  • Ability to work constructively with parties that may have divergent interests.
