Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and driven Senior Cost Engineer to lead cost control efforts across a portfolio of projects within the Nuclear Decommissioning market. This role requires a strong background in project controls, team leadership, and cost engineering, with a focus on Sellafield projects and a solid understanding of NEC contracts. The ideal candidate will also bring expertise in procedure development and process documentation, ensuring consistency and compliance across project delivery.

Your Purpose:
  • Lead and mentor a team of cost engineers, fostering a high-performance culture and ensuring consistent delivery standards.
  • Manage cost control activities across projects of varying complexity, ensuring alignment with contractual and commercial frameworks.
  • Develop and maintain cost forecasts, budgets, and performance metrics, providing accurate and timely reporting to stakeholders.
  • Interpret and apply NEC contract principles in cost management, change control, and commercial risk mitigation.
  • Drive the development and documentation of cost control procedures and processes to support project governance and assurance.
  • Collaborate with project managers, planners, and commercial teams to ensure integrated project controls.
  • Conduct advanced data analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for cost optimization.
  • Build and maintain dashboards and reports using Power BI, Excel, and Visual Basic for Applications.
  • Support final account preparation and cost close-out activities.

Required Skills & Experience:
  • Experience in cost engineering or project controls, ideally within the nuclear or infrastructure sectors.
  • Proven experience in leading teams and managing cost functions on multiple projects with various complexity.
  • Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts and their application in live project environments.
  • Demonstrated experience on Sellafield projects or similar high-security, regulated environments.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and VBA for cost modeling and automation.
  • Proficient in Power BI for data visualization and reporting.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to present complex data clearly.
  • Experience in procedure development and process writing to support project governance and compliance.

Desirable Qualifications:
  • Degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Project Management, or a related discipline.
  • Professional membership or certification (e.g., ACostE, RICS, APM, MAPM).
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and project management tools.
