Research & Development (R&D) - We are about 2500 internal employees in numerous locations. Our main Technology Centres are based in Aarhus (Denmark), Porto (Portugal) and Chennai (India).
We innovate and develop onshore and offshore products, as well as plant and energy solutions, by translating market value drivers into our R&D functions that design and develop these solutions for our customers. By defining, providing and improving the required capabilities, we ensure the organization executes effectively and efficiently within a modular, quality-focused, safe, and sustainable industrial system.
Our department, Hub Module Technical Management, is accountable for driving hub design quality and strategy. We are based across two key locations: Aarhus, Denmark and Porto, Portugal.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Functional Lead, your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead the development and integration of hub components and features into hub and nacelle products
  • Deliver mature, validated technology components to support ongoing and future hub projects
  • Drive project execution using Vestas' Modular Way to Market, ensuring high-quality models, documentation, and manufacturing readiness
  • Assess component performance and maturity using engineering best practices and maintain a clear development roadmap
  • Collaborate across functions to balance key design drivers like performance, cost, mass, and process capability
  • Own and define design quality standards, lead critical design reviews, and ensure robust implementation across the value chain
  • Support organizational capability development and ensure hub design aligns with evolving standards and product guidelines


Qualifications

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical engineering (or a related field), with a solid foundation in slew ring and/or rolling element bearing design
  • Minimum of 10 years of industry experience, preferably within engineering or product development roles
  • Prior experience in the wind energy sector


Competencies

We are looking for a candidate who demonstrates the following competencies and personal attributes:

  • Demonstrated technical leadership skills with the ability to engage and align diverse stakeholders to achieve optimal outcomes
  • Proven track record of successfully driving developments and projects from concept to completion
  • Experience with system engineering, design quality tools and FEA tools (is preferred)
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal
  • Collaborative team player with a strong commitment to quality
  • Capable of leading, mentoring, and developing engineers and functional leads

Additional information

Primary work location is Aarhus (Denmark) or Porto (Portugal), with some travel expected.
