Wood is currently recruiting for an Operation Superintendent to join its Singapore business unit focusing on leading and managing a team of operational personnel in a safe, efficient, reliable and environmentally sound manner for a major onshore brownfield project in Basra, Iraq.
This is a full-time onsite position in Basra, Iraq, with travel requirement.

Key Objectives
- Lead and manage a team of operational personnel in a safe, efficient, reliable and environmentally sound manner to ensure that the company objectives and targets (volumes, opex, capex, business controls) are achieved in line with corporate expectations and WP&B commitments.
- Lead and promote productive impact across functions or departments. Remove barriers to achieve maximizing Asset performance
- Provide leadership to achieve strong internal alignment within
- Responsible and accountable to manage all operation activities performed at field by ensuring activities are integrated in accordance with the Production Unit Asset Leadership team's operational plans
- Conduct and lead regular asset level team meetings with participation of functional organization. Drive improvement to Asset Level Team effectiveness.
- Responsible and accountable for communicating expectations on job safety, health, environmental and security
- Mentor direct reports on their roles and responsibilities to help foster and develop strong leadership principles within the organization
- Review/Approve operation procedures for operational effectiveness, consistency with management philosophy, practicality, and safety
- Lead direct reports and manage interfaces with maintenance and wellwork operations to sustain asset integrity and profitability and inform and consult senior management timely about major issues
- Effectively communicate with senior operation field superintendents, operation field superintendents, operation engineers and supervisors as well as functional and contracting support groups
- Ensure that all personnel have the necessary qualifications and certification to conduct field operations
- Ensure Operation Supervisors and Engineers are assigned to operational jobs for which they are qualified.
- Take a leadership role in managing tenders and contracts in accordance to procurement guidelines
Emergency Response
- Lead or participate in site Emergency Response activities
- Ensure all operations personnel are aware of their role in incident response as per the Emergency Response Manual
- Initiate and participate in Site Emergency Drills to raise awareness of Emergency Response procedures, and conduct team debriefs on conclusion of the drills
Operation Management
- Ensure timely COE engagement as necessary
- Apply good business judgments to make best business solutions/decisions in maximizing asset value and performance
- Review and approve deviation to approved work procedures as per Management of Change and work approval process
- Support the application of Policy in relation to the Drug and Alcohol policy, Company Ethics, Award conditions, etc, whilst respecting and protecting the personal rights of subordinates
- Lead Incident Management both internally and externally (as per the Reporting Matrix) and escalate awareness as per the Incident Reporting Guidelines
- Focus the operations organization towards the prime target of safe and reliable operations and ensure that the corresponding prerequisites are in place.
- Minimize volume related downtime, fluctuations in volumes and regain idle capacity; track and analyze
Training and Personnel Management
- Responsible for ensuring that all operation personnel training plans are developed and executed
- Ensure proper resource allocation to optimize asset team effectiveness

Expected:
- 20+ years' work experience with D&WW Operations - required
- 10 years previous key management position within an operating oil or gas field - required
- Managerial experience in Operations and/or Operations Technical
- BS/MS/Eng. degree
Skills:
- Excellent communications (oral & written) in English
- Highest standard of Safety, Health, Environment aptitude and cultivates the same in others.
- Ability to interact in a multi-cultural environment
- Previously worked successfully in a key leadership position.
- Demonstrated experience in liaising with third party contractors, business partners and local communities.
- Good understanding of wellwork, plant, field, equipment integrity, reliability and maintenance operations
- Advanced understanding of Controls Integrity management Systems (CIMS), safety management tools, Production Operations Best Practices (POBP) / WP&B / Operated By Other (OBO) processes
- Advanced understanding and operation of Emergency Preparedness Procedures
- Good management /supervisory, interpersonal and motivation skills.
- Advanced knowledge of safety management tools and processes. (Stepback 5x5, Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Risk Assessment)
- Good understanding of Project Philosophy and Design Specifications
- Understanding of Project regulations
- Understanding of Project commercial agreements
