Job Description Summary

The Lead Assembly Engineer demonstrates accountability for GE engine test vehicle assembly management and coordination.
In this role you will drive assembly readiness by interfacing with NPI assembly teams and engineering to successfully deliver test vehicles for testing.
You will work with evaluations, instrumentation, systems and test engineering teams to define hardware need dates, identify critical path activities and solve issues.
You will be in charge of planning and execution of engine assembly and rebuilds, coordinating local GEAC NPI assembly team (for one test vehicle up to 15 people), to make sure all delivery requirements are met.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Own the overall schedule of assembly/disassembly for a given engine test vehicle, coordinate and manage NPI assembly teams cooperating during engine assembly (assembly, meng, tooling, quality, warehouse, logistics), work together with test vehicle team (evals, instrum, systems, test engineering) during all phases of the engine test process
  • Representing GEAC NPI assembly on engine daily stand-ups, Toll gates and if need STR/TVR, for assigned test vehicles, responsibility for all required deliverables, Assembly engineer acts as a connecting point between GEAC NPI assembly resources and external teams cooperating on test vehicle
  • Ensure compliance to engineering handbook, GEAC procedures and NPI assembly standard work, drive assembly, solve problems, identify and prevent risks, responsible for project stakeholder satisfaction
  • Communicate the status of test vehicle assembly/disassembly to the test vehicle team and to GEAC leadership, Identify and effectively communicate critical path, showstoppers and possible improvement options
  • Engagement of internal/external resources to solve issues, close MRB, escalate late hardware delivery, communicate test vehicle/ parts shipments, planning and driving RCA and PSR meetings
  • Ownership of cross-functional continues improvement for NPI assembly, Standard work, creating and update of Standard work and SOP
  • Active participation during project preparation, budgeting and planning, assuring that all project standards are met
  • Support of product transfer to serial production, ownership engineering changes and cost out projects


Required Qualifications
  • Very good overall engine assembly technical knowledge, understanding assembly sequence, frequent issues, good enough high-level technical skill to be able to understand and drive closure of potential issues
  • Master's degree in Aeronautical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Proven experience (approx. 3 years)
  • Experience with design engineering and/or project management
  • Strong oral and written English communication skills (Czech optional)
