The Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) is a Research and Technology Organization (RTO) active in the fields of materials, environment and IT. You will join the Intelligent and Clean Energy Systems (ICES) research unit at the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) and will actively contribute to the EnerTEF project, funded by the Horizon Europe, in collaboration with research institutes and Industrial partners around Europe.
EnerTEF focus on establishing a Common Federated AI Testing and Experimentation Facility (TEF) for the energy field. Specifically, it leverages AI and cutting-edge infrastructure to optimize EV charging and energy systems. By integrating distributed energy resources, demand response, and storage, it aims to enhance grid flexibility and renewable energy use. Through advanced analytics and digital twin environments, EnerTEF delivers innovative solutions for the local energy community.

How will you contribute?
You will be mainly in charge of:
- Developing grid-following and grid-forming controllers and functionalities.
- Dynamic modelling and analysis of power grids with high IBR penetration.
- Implementing prototypes at relevant power level in the laboratory.
- Integrating prototypes into PHIL systems.
- Running experiments and analysing results.
- Generating inputs for system improvement and proposing new concepts.
- Collaborating with other researchers to promote interdisciplinary activities.
- Assisting in the preparation of reports and presentations.
- Disseminating and publishing research results in top-ranked scientific journals and conferences.
- Disseminate findings through publications, presentations, and contributions to the EnerTEF project.

Education
- A PhD degree in electrical engineering or a related discipline.
Experience and skills
- Strong background in grid-connected power converters and grid interaction.
- Deep knowledge of dynamic simulation and analysis of power converter-dominated grids, e.g. with DIgSILENT.
- Proficient in simulation tools for power converters, such as PSCAD and PSIM.
- Hands-on experience in dynamic analysis of power grids with high IBR penetration.
- Familiar with implementing control loops on DSP systems, especially TI C2000.
- Skilled in conducting experiments in power electronics laboratories.
- Solid understanding of programming languages, particularly C# and Python.
- Proficient in control systems design and analysis using MATLAB.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Proactive, eager to learn, self-organized, and innovative.
- Capable of working independently and collaboratively within an international team at the ICES RDI unit.
