  • Salary: $23.60 - $31.92 (per hour)

Responsibilities

As a Utilization Management Coordinator supporting our Ascension Insurance Utilization Management Gateway program, y ou will organize and coordinate office support functions, activities and workflow for assigned functional area or department. Please note this is a high production position which will require you to be telephonically in queue. Other responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for processing precertification and referral requests for health care services.
  • Verifying plan coverage/PCP, securing patient demographics, referring physician, current health status including clinical history/physical information, status of admission or discharge and requested procedures.
  • Responsible for accuracy and completeness of precertification and referral information within the database in accordance with all compliance and regulatory requirements.
  • Responsible for handling volume of inbound and outbound calling from and to providers and members as needed. Providing excellent customer service in handling these calls.
  • Maintain a positive attitude while working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Adhere to all regulatory and delegation requirements, including turn-around time.

Requirements

Education:

  • High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
    • Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education OR experience,

      if applicable

Additional Preferences

Additional preferences:

  • Associates degree or above preferred
  • 2+ years of Health Insurance Utilization Management coordination experience
  • 2+ years of Medical Referrals and Preauthorization experience in a Healthcare setting
  • 2+ years experience in a high production environment in a Healthcare setting
  • Strong knowledge of Medical Terminology
  • Computer savvy and data entry skills
  • Customer service expert with excellent organizational and time-management skills
