We are seeking a skilled and licensed Field Investigator to support our oil and gas operations across New Mexico and Texas. This role is critical in protecting our client's assets and ensuring the integrity of our field operations by investigating incidents such as theft, vandalism, and sabotage at oil well sites and associated properties. This is a public environment located along the Permian Basin and surrounding areas with the corresponding levels of traffic (employees, visitors, customers, etc.).

Weather: Indoors and outdoors, frequently exposed to outdoor weather conditions.
Noise level: Moderate to Loud.
Description of environment: Environment will vary between indoor office environment to outdoor oil field.
Physical requirements: Employee is required to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Frequently to constantly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk/hear, taste/smell, and carry weight/lift.
Travel: Frequent travel within the Permian Basin and surrounding area is required. Company vehicle is provided.

We are seeking a skilled and licensed Field Investigator to support our oil and gas operations across New Mexico and Texas. This role is critical in protecting our client's assets and ensuring the integrity of our field operations by investigating incidents such as theft, vandalism, and sabotage at oil well sites and associated properties. This is a public environment located along the Permian Basin and surrounding areas with the corresponding levels of traffic (employees, visitors, customers, etc.).
Responsibilities
- Random patrols designated areas in search of theft, damage, or other illegal activities. Report any criminal activity to client & local authorities of the area.
- Preserves crime scenes to prevent destruction/loss of evidence.
- Provides full detailed reporting of incidents to local authorities and the client:
- Photographs
- Video (if available)
- Written statements of Victims/Witnesses.
- Establish relationships with local authorities, agencies, and associated partnerships as the client POC.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to assess, identify, and mitigate security vulnerabilities or gaps.
- Maintain vehicle and company provided equipment in good repair.
- Manage complex and confidential investigations, ensuring compliance with relevant laws.
- Conduct thorough investigations, including evidence collection, witness interviews, and incident documentation.
- Ensures own actions observe the maximum level of safety and compliance.
- Assists in properly responding to a variety of suspicious activities to preserve property and evidence.
- Other duties may be assigned as needed.
- This position currently has no supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Residency in New Mexico and active Private Investigator license in Texas (or able to obtain).
- Minimum 3 years of investigative or law enforcement experience, preferably in the energy sector. (Must have 6,000 hours in the past 5 years).
- Strong understanding of oilfield operations and infrastructure is a plus.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently in remote and sometimes challenging environments.
- Experience with surveillance tools and investigative technology preferred.
- Experience in corporate or private security preferred.
- A valid Driver's License and an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under NMS' vehicle insurance policy.
- Must be able to cooperate and work as part of a team with fellow employees, customers, and clients.
- Must be able to make decisions in the moment with little to no supervision.
- Contract requires employees to speak, understand, read, and write English. Ability to communicate in Spanish is highly desired.
- Must meet and adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations set forth by the company and client.
