Description
We are looking for someone to
- Respond to alarms, take appropriate corrective action, execute plant shut-down and start-up procedures as required.
- Report upset conditions or other anomalies in plant status to the Power Plant Operations Supervisor.
- Assist in the training of new operators.
- Receive and respond to electrical, steam, and fuel orders and requests.
- Bring the steam generators up to pressure and take the steam generators out of service in accordance with operating instructions and procedures.
- Operate power plant to regulate the load on the gas turbines and steam turbines. Maintain power plant equipment operation within specified parameters.
- Start up, operate, and shut down steam and combustion turbine-generator units in accordance with operating instructions and procedures.
- Participate in lock out tag out, confined space, and hot work programs as described in the Power Plant Safety Program Manual.
Qualifications we're looking for
- Knowledge of gas turbine and steam turbine power plant equipment and operating procedures
- Knowledge of emergency measures and safety requirements
- Knowledge of water chemistry control, analysis of water conditions, water treatment facility operations and chemical handling requirements
- Knowledge of theoretical and practical knowledge of combustion/steam turbine operations, closed system steam generation, industrial safety, hazardous waste management and inspection/recording of plant parameters
- Knowledge of piping and instrument schematics and process controls
- Knowledge of basic mathematics.
- Ability to interact effectively with the public and employees
- Ability to operate steam and combustion turbine generators
- Ability to understand procedures and instructions
- Ability to work in confined spaces and participate in the Power Plant Confined Space Program
- Ability to perform duties in accordance with applicable federal and state laws and regulations, and as described in the Department's air, water, and hazardous material compliance programs, safety standards, and NERC
- Ability to perform shiftwork, overtime, or weekend work.
Education, Experience and Special Requirements:
- Typical education would include a high school diploma, or equivalent.
- Typical experience would include three years of experience as a power plant operator in an operating power generating plant. Combined cycle experience desirable.
- Possession of a valid California driver's license, or the ability to acquire one within ten days of appointment.
- Must be able to enter and work in confined spaces, participate in the Confined Space Program, and perform confined space rescue.
