We are looking for a skilled Formation Evaluation Scientist to join our team at Weatherford. In this role, you will be responsible for tool characterization, contributing to tool design as well as analyzing logs. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in well logging and tool physics, combining simulation, experimental and interpretation skillsets.
Roles & Responsibilities
OPERATIONS:
- Tool physics
- Assist with tool characterization
- Assist with tool response modeling using MCNP
- Assist with tool experimentation
- Work cross-functionally to create test plans and validate test results
INTERPRETATION:
- Conduct detailed analysis of well log data to determine rock properties using petrophysical software
- Generate petrophysical reports and presentations for stakeholders
- Perform user-acceptance testing
- Analyze and interpret core sample data to assess porosity, permeability, and saturation levels
GENERAL:
- Provide technical expertise to assist the broader geoscience community
- Resolve project-related problems within their area of expertise
- Stay updated with advancements in well logging technologies and petrophysical techniques
- Create project-related documentation and training manuals
- Teach or train employees and customers with new products
- Communicate with company stakeholders regarding project progress
Experience & Education
REQUIRED
- Ph.D. in Geology, Physics or Geophysics
- 8+ years' experience in Well Logging for the Oil and Gas industry
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities
- Proficiency in managing and interpreting large datasets
- Knowledge of formation evaluation, production logging and well integrity
- Knowledge of tool physics and tool characterization
- Experience with well logging and core analysis
- Familiarity with reservoir simulation and modeling techniques
- Solid understanding of petrophysical principles and methods
- Experience in working cross-functionally
PREFERRED
- Experience with XRF/XRD analysis
- Experience using MCNP simulation software
- Experience using petrophysical software such as Techlog, Petrel, or Geolog

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
- Knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and best practices related to health, safety, and environmental compliance.
- Self-starter. Curious. Ability to research independently and integrate knowledge from various sources into working solutions.
PREFERRED
- Active participation in technical societies, forums and open-source communities is a plus.
- Published technical papers, presented in industry conferences.
