Calculates and reviews effective tax rates, property tax liabilities, payment of quarterly taxes, interim and year-end audit schedules and reserve analysis; performs activities related to government tax audits; manages automated tax systems.
The position will:
• Ensure integrity of company-wide financial information through appropriate accounting and internal control policies, systems, and procedures
• Provide relevant, timely, and cost-effective financial statement reporting, analysis, and decision-making support.
The Controllers Team is in Buenos Aires and is part of the Finance Planning & Support Department.
In the Tax Accounting Team leader role, you will be responsible for:
- Leadership: Supervise and mentor the tax team, ensuring efficiency and accuracy.
- Finance Statement Reporting: Oversee the tax impact on Chevron financials and ensure appropriate and timely reporting. Be aware of segment reporting implications. Understand the impact of income taxes on the income statement and balance sheet. Knowledge of deferred versus current income taxes is desirable but not mandatory.
Manage SOX controls for tax accounting.
- Accounting & Analytical Skills - Strong accounting skills with the capability to understand complex tax accounting concepts under US GAAP ASC 740. Prior knowledge of tax accounting and/or tax law is preferred but not mandatory. Ability to analyze financial transactions, account balances, and financial statements. Demonstrated ability to improve processes through streamlining and using digital tools.
- Communication - Effectively communicates complex topics in a clear and concise manner across various levels of the organization. Has the ability to collaborate with different teams to achieve objectives.
- Supporting strategic reinvestments in technology that accelerate the pace of efficiency and modernization of our Finance work processes by:
1. Expanding the use of digital tools to drive insight and business value
2. Building specialized digital skill sets
3. Monitoring the digital landscape for opportunities to expand the use of digital tools
4. Supporting Enterprise initiatives focused on transitioning our ERP systems to SAP S4HANA
5. Aligning with the IT Platform concept to ensure digital efforts fully leverage enterprise IT and business resources
Decision Criteria:
1. Analytical and critical thinking skills. Ability to analyze data and provide insightful analysis that illustrates key cause and effect, business, and value drivers.
2. Communication. Ability to effectively interact with team members and/or management, providing clear, logical recommendations in a concise manner, to either internal or external stakeholders. Ability to synthesize complex topics and present them to the audience at the appropriate level.
3. Leadership & Initiative. Demonstrated ability to articulate goals, encourage others to follow, champion issues and effectively engage, mobilize, and influence organizations or teams. Demonstrated persistence in driving progress on department initiatives and consistently seeking to broaden the scope of their role.
4. Advanced English level, as you will maintain daily communication with key partners.
