Location: London or Bristol, with hybrid working and travel to the Sizewell C site in Suffolk.
Employment basis: Permanent and the role is expected to be a full-time position.
Working pattern: We operate on an office-based contract model, but support hybrid working where possible. This means you'll need to be based within reasonable travel distance of the office and able to attend in person when business needs require, typically 3 days per week, though this may vary by team or project. Flexibility to be on site when needed is essential.
Salary: Competitive salary, dependent on experience plus bonus and other benefits.

It has recently achieved Financial Investment Decision (FID) meaning that all the funding for the full lifespan of the project is now secured and in place guaranteeing the full delivery of this new nuclear power station. When completed, it will provide dependable electricity to 6 million homes for 60 years, which along with renewables, will support Britain to achieve Net Zero by 2050.

Are you ready to play a pivotal role in one of the most ambitious and transformative projects in the UK? The Sizewell C Technical Directorate (TD) are looking for passionate Programme Engineering Managers to join us across our Civils programme.:
The Role
Our Engineering & Technical function is a fundamental part of the Civil Works Programme. It is responsible for defining the design, engineering and technical requirements of the programme. It leads the full lifecycle of design delivery-from initial requirements through to final acceptance-while managing the associated budget, resources, and supply chain. Additionally, it ensures the effective integration of constructability considerations and design coordination across the Civil Works Programme, Site Establishment, and Offsite Infrastructure.
As the Nuclear Island Civil Technical & Engineering Manager you'll support the definition and validation of Technical Requirements and Specifications working closely with EDF Nuclear Services and the Sizewell C Design Authority. Strong leadership is required as you manage technical Open Points and Design Changes, ensuring alignment with governance processes such as the TDF, NCC, NPWCC and our Replication Principles.
You will contribute to Design Technical Assurance across the full lifecycle. This is key enabling Sizewell C acceptance through reviews and approvals defined in surveillance plans. You'll also manage risk through established processes and lead technical input on Early Warnings, Compensation Events, Technical Queries, and communications from the Design Supply Chain. Ensuring engagement from our Responsible Designer stakeholders.
As a Nuclear Island Civil Technical & Engineering Manager you'll coordinate with other stakeholders and manage technical interfaces across the project. Compliance is key across our Engineering and Design processes. You'll ensure compliance and support delivery from requirements capture to Engineering Design Review (EDR), in line with Contract Schedules and the Integrated Work Schedule (IWS).
The role will include direct line management responsibility for 1 or 2 individuals, and coordination of a significant design supply chain, with a design budget in the region of £50m over the next 5 years.

To thrive in this role, you'll need a blend of leadership, technical expertise, and adaptability in complex environments:
- Experience in heavy civil engineering design (reinforced concrete, structural steel) aligned with European Standards
- Skilled in design integration, team leadership, and delivery management.
- Expertise in managing complex interfaces in regulated, high-safety environments.
- Strong engineering knowledge across design processes, systems, and disciplines.
- Familiar with EPR nuclear design and NEC contract frameworks.
- Skilled in engineering documentation workflows and review procedures.
- Proficient in engineering management systems and software tools.
- Effective communicator across project teams, stakeholders, regulators, and authorities.
