Travel and Per Diem arrangements are available to qualified candidates.

DURATION: This position is estimated to be for at least 6 months with likely extensions past 1 year, as needs arise.

Global Engineering & Technology (GET) is seeking a Quality Assurance Inspector and Welding Subject Matter Expert (SME) with expertise in the nuclear industry to support the Department of Energy's Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP), performing work in Ogden, Utah.

This is a highly compensated full-time position with benefits, with work performed primarily at a supplier/manufacturer facility in Ogden, Utah. This long-term position provides Travel and Per Diem support for those who live outside of the Ogden area, as defined by the WIPP facility's travel guidelines.

Salary Range: Ranges from $150,000 to $190,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.

Duties:
  • The QA/QC Specialist will witness vendor QC and verify that vendor fabrication work product is compliant with codes and standards approved by SIMCO, including:
    • Dimensional
    • Fit up
    • Weld inspection
    • Load test
    • Receipt inspection
    • Anything called out in the QAIP for the specific container being fabricated

  • The QA/QC Specialist supports the packaging department in a QA Oversight role on-site at vendor facilities.
  • Performs customer witness verification / hold points.
  • Documents information required to a (QAIP) Quality Assurance Inspection Plan.
  • Inputs required data in logs and keeps oversight updated.
  • Keeps packaging appointed representative updated daily of any issues or concerns and communicates with fellow QA oversight counterparts if needed.

Requirements

Certifications:

The ideal candidate will hold an AWS/CWI certification and have a nuclear industry background and a strong understanding of ASME NQA-1.

Education & Experience:

At a minimum, applicants must meet one of the following criteria:
  • Bachelor's Degree with nine (9) years of relevant/related experience
  • Associate's Degree with thirteen (13) years of relevant/related experience
  • High School Diploma/GED with seventeen (17) years of relevant/related experience

Travel:

Travel is required (a current passport is not required but considered a plus)

Security Clearance:

NONE REQUIRED

Citizenship:

Due to the nature of WIPP as a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) facility dealing with defense-related radioactive waste, applicants must be citizens of the United States.
