JOB PURPOSE SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for ensuring optimal performance of HVAC systems across assigned campuses through skilled maintenance, diagnostics, repair, and monitoring of complex heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to maintain safe, healthy, and energy-efficient learning environments.

KEY FUNCTIONS, ESSENTIAL DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning (HVAC):
1. Troubleshoots and performs corrective repairs on major HVAC system components, including boilers, pumps, valves, chillers, compressors, air handlers, condensers, and related controls and accessories.
2. Conducts diagnostic assessments and electrical testing on system components to identify issues and confirm operational integrity.
3. Performs routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and calibration of HVAC equipment according to prescribed schedules.
4. Recommends and initiates the purchase of necessary parts, tools, and supplies related to assigned equipment. Completes work orders, timesheets, cost tracking, and other required documentation for maintenance operations accurately and promptly.
5. Maintains detailed service logs and maintenance records for all HVAC systems and equipment.
6. Identifies and reports equipment issues covered under warranty and ensures that all related repairs and interventions are documented appropriately.
7. Inspects, cleans, lubricates, and replaces belts and filters to maximize system efficiency and longevity.
8. Supports departmental efforts in implementing and upholding District safety protocols.
9. Collaborates with other maintenance personnel, as appropriate, to resolve complex issues and support cross-functional projects.
10. Responds to emergency maintenance requests and supports district operational needs as required.
11. Carries out assigned preventive maintenance tasks according to district schedules and protocols to ensure HVAC equipment operates safely and efficiently.
12. Assists with system upgrades or installations under the direction of the HVAC Coordinator or project lead, following detailed work plans and safety protocols.
13. Supports the inspection and verification of contractor-performed work by reporting observations or inconsistencies to the HVAC Coordinator.
14. Follows established procedures for handling refrigerants and hazardous materials in compliance with EPA and district safety standards.
15. Documents completed maintenance activities and service calls in the district's work order or maintenance management system, as directed.
16. Responds to assigned HVAC-related service requests in a timely and professional manner, escalating complex issues to the appropriate supervisor.
17. Secures and transports tools, materials, and equipment necessary for HVAC work, ensuring proper care and return after each assignment. 1

Job Description
18. Participates in required safety meetings, compliance trainings, and certifications related to mechanical systems and environmental safety.
19. Assists other skilled trades personnel with HVAC-related support during multi-trade repairs or campus facility projects, as assigned.

Compliance:
20. Performs all assigned work activities in accordance with standard procedures and protocols established by the department and District, and in accordance with applicable standards, procedures, protocols, practices, codes, and requirements as set forth by applicable regulatory and governing entities including, without limitation, Texas Education Agency, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, Texas Energy Code, Texas Administrative Code, Texas Health and Safety Code, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and National Electrical Code.
21. Demonstrates and maintains relevant and up-to-date working knowledge and understanding of safety compliance, environmental responsibility, energy efficiency, accessibility, and all other applicable requirements and standards relevant to the job function.
22. Monitors respective work activity for variances and anomalies.
23. Identifies and timely reports any known or suspected compliance issues to appropriate personnel.
24. Assists with audits and the preparation for audits, whether initiated internally or externally, as assigned.
25. Adheres to all other District wide policies and procedures including, but not limited to, human resources, safety, and emergency protocols.

General:

27. Assists department leadership in the compilation of miscellaneous confidential reports.
28. Attends departmental and organizational meetings, as required.
29. Participates in continuing education programs and related activities to maintain proficient understanding and working knowledge relevant and essential to the job function and trade.

31. Performs assigned job duties and responsibilities in accordance with established performance expectations, as well as with District policies, procedures, protocols and standard practices.
32. Demonstrates proficient working knowledge and understanding in the proper repair, maintenance, and servicing of HVAC systems.
33. Demonstrates proficient working knowledge and understanding in the proper usage and maintenance of tools, equipment, and materials necessary for carrying out all essential duties and responsibilities relating to the repair, maintenance, and servicing of HVAC systems.
34. Demonstrates proficient working knowledge and understanding of systems and applications that pertain to basic HVAC controls, building automation, digital thermostats and controls, inventory management, safety management, email and related communication tools, as well as other applicable systems and programs relevant to the job function.
35. Maintains assigned work vehicle, tools, and equipment in clean, safe, and operable condition.
36. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & CREDENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
? High school diploma or equivalent GED
? Prior experience working as an HVAC technician, or related capacity;
? Or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
? Active, Valid, and In Good Standing Texas Driver's License
? Active, Valid, and In Good Standing Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Certification for refrigerant handling (Section 608 or equivalent)
