Service Engineer - Dredging Equipment

Function description
This position supports a high-performing sales and service organization by delivering technical expertise throughout the lifecycle of specialized dredging equipment. The Service Engineer plays a key role in ensuring customer satisfaction and long-term partnerships by providing commissioning, maintenance, training, and repair services, both on-site and remotely.
The work is based in Nijkerk but includes extensive international travel (up to 50% of the year), often requiring independent problem-solving in challenging environments. The engineer will be the operational link between customers and the broader technical team, acting as the eyes and ears on the ground.

Function description
This position supports a high-performing sales and service organization by delivering technical expertise throughout the lifecycle of specialized dredging equipment. The Service Engineer plays a key role in ensuring customer satisfaction and long-term partnerships by providing commissioning, maintenance, training, and repair services, both on-site and remotely.
The work is based in Nijkerk but includes extensive international travel (up to 50% of the year), often requiring independent problem-solving in challenging environments. The engineer will be the operational link between customers and the broader technical team, acting as the eyes and ears on the ground.
Key Responsibilities:
- Commission and deliver dredging equipment to global clients
- Assemble systems, perform scheduled maintenance, and resolve critical malfunctions
- Conduct training sessions on equipment operation, assembly, and upkeep
- Prepare detailed reports and handle administrative tasks related to service project
Requirements
Skills & Experience:
- Practical, proactive, and goal-oriented mindset
- Strong command of English and cultural adaptability - Dutch is a plus
- Willingness to travel internationally up to 40-50% of the year
- Technical MBO-4 degree in Mechanical Engineering (preferred)
- Experience with control systems and automation
- Proven track record in international service roles
- Background in heavy mechanical engineering or dredging is a strong advantage
