Job Description Summary

This position supports the Metallography Laboratory. The person will be responsible for tasks in accordance with lab responsibilities

Job Description

The Metallography Lab Technician provides important support to the GE Aerospace Engineering / Supply Chain community. The M etallography Lab Technician will prepare and test various material (metallic, ceramic, etc) samples using specialized equipment to evaluate their characteristics. The technician will primarily perform tasks such as cutting, specimen mounting, detailed polishing, etching, and examining samples with microscopes.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Assist the more experienced technician, specialist, engineers, team leader in metallography lab activities
• Support operations per lab owner's direction and involve subject matter expert (SME) for issue resolution.
• Provides direction and oversight to the maintenance personnel during the planning and execution of Preventive Maintenance (PM's) plans & Repair - (Maintaining facility)
• Support and perform work in compliance with all Environmental, Health, and Safety programs, policies and regulations
• Interface with external organizations & internal supporting functions
• Work under minimal supervision while being proficient in identifying issues or problems with equipment, processes, and/or products
• Work with a internal customers to understand requested work scope and deliver a high quality product on time.
• Contribute to lab operations standard work for documentation and process improvements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in an applicable technical discipline (i.e. Mechanical Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Technologies Electronic Technology, Chemical Technology, etc.) and/or a high school diploma (or GED equivalent) with a least one year of work experience in Relevant Field
  • Exposure to / experience in Metallographic Laboratory Preparation Processes

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.
