We are looking for an experienced and safety-minded Directional Drill Locator to support telecom utility installation projects across Northern Virginia. The Drill Locator is responsible for guiding horizontal directional drilling (HDD) operations, ensuring accurate bore paths while protecting existing underground infrastructure. This role is essential to the successful installation of fiber optic and telecom lines in a fast-paced construction environment.

Key Responsibilities:
• Operate and interpret electronic locating equipment to guide drill operators along planned bore paths.
• Read and understand telecom utility prints, bore plans, and job blueprints.
• Communicate bore depth, alignment, and steering corrections clearly to the drill operator.
• Identify and avoid conflicts with underground utilities through potholing, mapping, and utility verification.
• Support setup, monitoring, and completion of bores for fiber optic and telecom conduit installations.
• Maintain accurate records of bore logs, as-builts, and daily progress.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, including OSHA and company standards.
• Assist with minor equipment troubleshooting and maintenance.
• Work with project managers, inspectors, and utility representatives to ensure smooth project delivery.

Qualifications:
• Experience: Minimum 3-4 years of HDD locating experience in telecom, fiber, or underground utility construction.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency with HDD locating equipment (DigiTrak preferred).
• Knowledge: Familiarity with telecom utility construction methods, bore planning, and utility avoidance practices.
• Licensing: Valid driver's license required; CDL Class A or B preferred.
• Certifications (Preferred): OSHA 10/30, First Aid/CPR.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 50 lbs, work outdoors in all weather conditions, and stand/walk for long periods.
• Soft Skills: Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively as part of a crew.
