Job Title: Deputy Division Director Oil, Gas. and Mining
Job Description:
The Division of Oil, Gas and Mining is recruiting for a Deputy Director in the Oil and Gas Program. The Deputy Director provides:
- Strategic vision and goals for the program
- Development and implementation of oil and gas specific rule making and policy
- Senior leadership for the Oil and Gas Program
- Represents the Oil and Gas Program before the Board, Legislature, and other organizations as needed
- Technical and administrative support to the Division Director
- Oversight and completion of program specific goals as provided by the Division Director

Responsibilities
As a Deputy Division Director you will:
- Assist the Division Director in the day-to-day operation of the Oil and Gas Program, including developing and coordinating plans, policies, programs, projects and resources in accordance with the Division's mission and goals
- Drive implementation of the Division's strategic goals.
- Supervise Oil and Gas staff, including operations, data management, and several specific groups within the program
- Assist the Division Director with personnel actions including hiring and initiating corrective or disciplinary actions
- Acts as an Oil and Gas resource for management
- Represents the Oil and Gas Program with federal, state and local government entities as well as private organizations
- Participates as a member of the Division Management and Legislative Teams

Required/Minimum Qualifications:
- Good writing skills, which result in clear and concise communication
- Ability to strengthen and promote teamwork and employee development, build mutual trust, respect, and cooperation

Preferred/Additional Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher related to the oil and gas industry, natural resources, or closely related field
- Knowledge of principles, theories and practices of:
- Personnel management and development
- Project management
- Negotiation skills
- Budget management, including program funding concepts
- Public relations
- Leadership
- Oil and gas
- Legislative process
- Ability to work with legislators and other political entities/individuals
- Ability to facilitate or lead hearings, meetings, teams or work groups to encourage participation, respect and cooperation among participants

- Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lit, heated and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.
- Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work
- Valid driver license required to drive a motor vehicle on a highway in this state per UCA53-3-202(1)(a)
