The Energy Markets Head Office in E.ON Energia S.p.A. deals with the procurement of commodities and the management of transport, dispatching and balancing contracts for power and gas commodities and is made up of four interdependent areas:

  • Market Access & Contract Management (area of the role);
  • Portfolio Management & Commodity Pricing;
  • Back Office & Reporting;
  • Flexibility & Short-Term Operations


E.ON Energia in its Energy Markets Head Office in Milan is looking for a Short-Term Power Trader (f/m/d).

The Challenge

In this pivotal role, you'll be instrumental in managing and optimizing our power and gas supply portfolio. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing trading activities on Day-Ahead and Intraday power markets, with a specific focus on the Italian market.
  • Taking responsibility of development, deployment, maintenance of automated trading algorithms in the context of the power exchange and marketing of physical assets
  • Conducting in-depth analysis of key market drivers to identify opportunities and risks.
  • Collaborating with other IT and data science teams working on forecasting and related short-term models for trading the E.ON customer portfolio
  • Aligning with other teams across different countries to understand, challenge, refine and suggest new approaches for trading logics for physical assets.
  • Ensuring comprehensive documentation of all implemented logics, models, and operational processes.


Your Background That Convinces

We're looking for a highly motivated and skilled individual with a robust background in short-term power trading. Your qualifications should include:

  • A university degree in engineering, economics, mathematics, finance, or a comparable discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in intraday power trading roles.
  • Operational knowledge of European electricity markets, with a strong focus on the Italian market and dispatching dynamics.
  • A strong analytical and structured way of thinking, combined with excellent organizational skills.
  • Enjoy working both independently and within a highly motivated team, coupled with a results-oriented mindset.
  • Excellent communication skills, assertiveness, and a strong sense of engagement.
  • A proactive approach to learning and personal development.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel, VBA, Python and/or Matlab, SQL.
  • Fluent in written and spoken Italian and English
