POSITION SUMMARY:
The Sr. Manager, Controls Product leads a cross-functional product team in developing advanced and connected HVAC controls in partnership with industry-leading factories and OEM partners-including global partners in Japan. They will shape the Mitsubishi Electric Trane HVAC US (METUS) product strategy, drive product launches and lifecycle management, and ensure that METUS controls portfolio delivers outstanding performance, reliability, and value for demanding commercial and residential markets.

The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $128,000 and $176,000 per year, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including target bonus plans and discretionary awards. Subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable plans then in effect, eligible employees may enroll in a 401(k) plan, as well as participate in Company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance plans for the employee and the employee's eligible dependents. Employees will also receive 80 hours of vacation per year, 56 hours of paid sick leave annually, and 13 paid holidays throughout the calendar year, depending on hire date. Employees may also take up to 12 weeks of paid or unpaid [parental/disability/emergency/etc.] leave, if eligible.

- Own and drive the HVAC controls product roadmap, focusing on advanced, connected, and reliable control solutions for VRF, ducted, and ductless systems.
- Lead cross-functional teams through the complete product lifecycle-from concept, requirements gathering, and business case development, through design, validation, launch, and end-of-life.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, manufacturing, and OEM partners (including global teams in Japan) to ensure technical feasibility, innovation, and efficient new product introduction.
- Oversee rigorous competitive analysis and market research to identify customer needs, emerging trends, and opportunities to differentiate our product portfolio.
- Build and prioritize a robust pipeline of new product developments, staying ahead of evolving HVAC controls technology (e.g., IoT integration, wireless controls, advanced user interfaces, mobile enablement).
- Develop and execute effective New Product Introduction and go-to-market strategies in partnership with sales and marketing-supporting technical collateral, launch materials, training, commercialization, and sales enablement.
- Ensure products meet all safety, regulatory, performance, and quality standards throughout the lifecycle, coordinating validation, compliance, and testing activities.
- Provide strong technical and business leadership-translating complex challenges into actionable project plans, managing milestones and budgets, and driving cross-functional collaboration.
- Interprets technical documentation, reviews engineering designs, and participates in detailed product testing/validation
- Influence key stakeholders by presenting clear business cases, market analysis, and product strategies to senior leadership.
- Mentor, coach, and grow a high-performing team of product managers and associates, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
- Monitor post-launch product performance, collecting feedback and driving ongoing enhancements or timely phaseouts in response to market needs.
- Willing to travel up to 20% to for various Company meetings and training both domestically and possibly internationally.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field, preferred.
- 10 years of progressive experience in HVAC controls technology (controllers, sensors, user interfaces, wired/wireless connectivity, and system integration) product management, marketing, or technical product leadership (VRF, split, packaged systems, or controls/interfaces experience preferred).
- Knowledge of value proposition development, pricing strategy, and commercial launch planning for technical products.
- Experience leading the gated product development process (from concept to launch to phase-out) with clear project plans, milestones, and performance measurement.
- Experience managing multiple full lifecycle product launches, from ideation through commercial release and end-of-life.
- Proven track record collaborating with manufacturing, engineering, and OEM partners-preferably with international teams (e.g., Japan-based factories).
- Familiarity with embedded firmware/software, control logic (PID, adaptive controls, etc.), and emerging communication standards (Modbus, BACnet, IoT, wireless protocols).
- Experience overseeing compliance with product safety, performance, and regulatory standards.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize market data, conduct competitive analysis, develop business cases, and model lifecycle profitability.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills-able to build, motivate, and coach cross-functional and multinational product teams, build consensus, present strategies to senior leadership, and influencing cross-functional stakeholders globally.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, comfortable explaining technical topics to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- High level of initiative, ownership, and organizational agility in fast-paced environments.
