This is a unique opportunity to join our talented team and be part of Primero's growth and success. Primero is an Australian-founded company, established in 2011 and growing consistently in Montreal since 2016. We expanded into Houston in 2022 and Toronto in 2023, strengthening our North American presence. We specialize in the design, procurement, and construction management of mineral processing plants
Your mission:
As a Piping Designer, you will be responsible for the preparation and development of piping design deliverables, including 3D models, general arrangements, isometric drawings, and material take-offs. The Piping Designer will support engineering and design activities across studies, detailed design, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases. This role will also provide technical input and design coordination to ensure piping layouts, routing, and associated systems comply with project specifications, standards, and constructability requirements. This position is reporting to the Design Manager.

Your mission:
As a Piping Designer, you will be responsible for the preparation and development of piping design deliverables, including 3D models, general arrangements, isometric drawings, and material take-offs. The Piping Designer will support engineering and design activities across studies, detailed design, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases. This role will also provide technical input and design coordination to ensure piping layouts, routing, and associated systems comply with project specifications, standards, and constructability requirements. This position is reporting to the Design Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop piping layouts and routing in 3D models based on process, mechanical, and structural requirements.
- Produce piping design deliverables including general arrangement drawings, isometrics, pipe support details, and MTOs.
- Coordinate with engineers, drafters, and other disciplines to ensure accurate and efficient design.
- Incorporate design changes, vendor information, and field markups into drawings and models.
- Participate in model reviews to identify and resolve clashes, constructability issues, and safety concerns.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project specifications.
- Recommend design improvements to enhance efficiency, operability, and maintainability of piping systems.
What We're Looking For:
- Diploma or Technical Certificate in Piping Design, Mechanical Drafting, or equivalent experience
- 1 to 5 years of piping design experience in the mining, oil & gas, or heavy industrial sectors.
- Proficiency in 3D design and modeling software such as SmartPlant 3D, AutoCAD Plant 3D, CADWorx, or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of piping codes, standards, and practices (ASME, ANSI, API, etc.).
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, process flow diagrams, and engineering drawings.
- Experience preparing isometrics, pipe support details, and material take-offs (MTOs).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Position details:
- 40 hours per week
