Job Summary
A Solar Construction Operator to support material handling and installation activities on a utility-scale solar project. The Operator will have hands-on experience with ATI and Nextracker racking systems, as well as proven capability in offloading and staging solar modules in a safe and efficient manner. This role is critical to ensuring the timely delivery, handling, and placement of key components for project success. The Equipment Operators - Solar are responsible for handling and operating heavy machinery used in the construction, installation, and maintenance of solar farms and large-scale renewable energy projects.

- Operate bulldozers, graders, backhoes, or excavators to clear and level land.
- Use forklifts, telehandlers, and cranes to move, lift, and position solar panels, racking systems, and other heavy equipment.
- Assist construction crews by positioning racking posts and structural mounts.
- Operate pile drivers or other specialized machines for setting foundations.
- Work alongside installers to ensure machinery is used efficiently.
- Conduct daily equipment checks (fuel, hydraulics, tires/tracks, safety systems).
- Report malfunctions, perform minor repairs, and coordinate with mechanics.
- Maintain equipment logs and follow preventative maintenance schedules.
- Safely transport materials around the solar site.
- Take reasonable care of health and safety for self and others
- Follow OSHA and site-specific safety protocols.
- Operate equipment according to load limits and manufacturer guidelines.
- Ensure safe operation around crew members and electrical systems.
- Coordinate work with other crafts and co-workers
- Produce quality work that meets plans, specifications, and industry standards
- Inspect field conditions and identify problems, taking corrective actions as needed
- Provides total commitment to continuous process improvement
- Models and reinforces safety as a top priority of the organization
- Meets schedules and deadlines, adheres to policies and procedures and maintains a good attendance/tardiness record.
- Ensures client satisfaction, both internally and externally, through efficient handling of issues.

- Performs other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Knowledge/Skills/Ability
- Proficiency in operating heavy construction equipment (bulldozers, Telehandler (10k and 12K), skid steers, cranes, pile drivers).
- Ability to read site plans and follow instructions from supervisors.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Basic knowledge of working in renewable energy
- Impeccable attention to detail and delivery of high-quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong sense of ownership and accountability
Education
- High school diploma, on job training, formal apprenticeship program or relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience
- 2-3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Developing knowledge of the assembly, installation, or maintenance of solar systems
- Renewable energy industry experience/ knowledge industry preferred
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
