Job Summary
Operate and maintain district mechanical systems equipment and energy management program for the comfort of staff and students. In-person work on campus is an essential function of this position.
Essential Functions
Operate, install, program, and maintain direct digital controls for district HVAC systems.
Troubleshoot, replace, repair, and maintain electro/mechanical systems located on rooftops and confined spaces.
Perform Preventive maintenance and inspect equipment.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
1. Completion of trade school in the field or related field and four (4) years of related experience.
2. Must posses State and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) licenses to purchase and handle refrigeration equipment.
3. Ability to read and understand blueprints.
4. Ability to apply engineering concepts to specific air conditioning systems.
5. Experience working on rooftops.
6. Working knowledge of Electronic Environmental controls instillation, troubleshooting, and repair.
7. Knowledge of sequence of operations applicable to HVAC systems using Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
8. Experience using a variety of hand tools and testing equipment.
9. Working knowledge of Tridium/Niagra Control System for the operation and monitoring of district-wide air condition systems.
Special Conditions:
1. This is a security-sensitive position as defined under the Texas Education Code, Section 51.215; the successful applicant will be required to undergo a criminal background check, as permitted and/or required by applicable law, and in accordance with the College's policies and procedures.
2. Operating a motor vehicle is an essential job function of this position; all final position candidates will be required to undergo a motor vehicle records check, as permitted and/or required by applicable law, and in accordance with the College's policies and procedures. Thereafter, motor vehicle records checks will be conducted annually.
