A leading engineering firm is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Senior Substation Electrical Engineer (EHV) to support projects in the Renewables, Utility, and Power sectors. This role involves acting as a technical leader and applying standard engineering techniques and procedures on substation design projects. The position offers flexibility to work remotely or from any of the company's office locations. What You'll Do Serve as a technical subject matter expert for substation electrical extra-high voltage (EHV) projects and design considerations. Develop and maintain electrical specifications for EHV (500kV and above) equipment. Lead design efforts on substation EHV projects, providing technical guidance to other engineers and engaging directly with clients and stakeholders. Produce and review design drawings including one-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, wiring diagrams, and control panel elevations. Create physical design drawings such as general arrangement, plan and elevation views, conduit routing, grounding plans, and equipment details. Perform engineering studies including corona onset voltage, radio interference voltage, audible noise prediction, electric field gradients, and corona loss. Prepare equipment specifications and evaluate technical bids for EHV substation components. Familiarity with SCADA systems, communications, and network engineering is a plus. Experience with commissioning or field engineering is a plus. Knowledge of basic relay settings and the National Electrical Code (NEC) is a plus. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program or equivalent. Professional Engineer (PE) license required. 10+ years of engineering experience. Proven experience in EHV (500kV and above) substation design (Physical and Protection & Control). Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment. Up to 15% travel may be required. Valid driver's license preferred. Must have permanent authorization to work in the U.S.
