We are seeking a highly motivated Research Scientist in Experimental Mechanics of Aerospace Composites to support research projects in the domain of design, development, and testing of advanced aerospace composites. The successful candidate will have a background in experimental mechanics and experience in testing composite materials. The research engineer will work both independently and with various teams to design test methods and understand material behavior through testing.

Roles and Responsibilities
- Design, plan, and execute research projects related to aerospace materials, processes and systems. Support team in the design, development, and testing of advanced aerospace materials
- Conduct experiments on aerospace materials using various testing methods such as tensile, compressive, and shear loading on hydraulic test frames, and develop new experimental methods to evaluate material properties.
- Analyze experimental data using statistical methods, interpret results based on constitutive material behavior and microstructure
- Present research findings to internal teams, business stakeholders, in scientific conferences, and meetings
- Collaborate with other teams and departments within the research center to learn and integrate new technologies into the characterization of aerospace composites
- Develop intellectual property through invention disclosures and patent applications
- Ensure laboratory safety through meticulous adherence to protocols, maintaining a clean and organized workspace, and fostering a secure environment for research activities.
- Lead and/or participate on teams assigned to address organizational initiatives and process continuous improvement (LEAN) efforts to provide standard work.

Required Qualifications
- M.Sc/M.Tech/MS with 3+ years of experience or PhD in Materials, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related fields
- Strong understanding of composite materials, their fabrication and testing methods
- Experience in designing and conducting experiments on aerospace composites using various testing method
- Ability be hands-on in execution of specimen preparation, run test campaigns and interpreting results
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Strong record of scientific publications and conference presentations
- Demonstrated ability to lead research projects
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality
- Good teaming skills and ability to work with wide range of technical teams and projects

- Strong understanding of materials science, including understanding of ceramics and coatings, specifically in the field of aerospace engineering
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
