We are seeking a highly skilled Import Duties & Trade Compliance Specialist to oversee and optimize our import duty processes. This role will ensure accurate duty tracking, evaluate opportunities for cost recovery, leverage Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) benefits, and collaborate with procurement to reduce tariff exposure. The ideal candidate will combine deep knowledge of customs regulations with a proactive, problem-solving mindset to deliver measurable savings for our organization.

JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a highly skilled Import Duties & Trade Compliance Specialist to oversee and optimize our import duty processes. This role will ensure accurate duty tracking, evaluate opportunities for cost recovery, leverage Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) benefits, and collaborate with procurement to reduce tariff exposure. The ideal candidate will combine deep knowledge of customs regulations with a proactive, problem-solving mindset to deliver measurable savings for our organization.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Track and maintain detailed records of all import duties paid by Rig Technologies.
- Stay current with the latest customs regulations, tariff codes, trade agreements, and duty structures.
- Ensure compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and international trade laws.
- Review paid duties to identify eligible transactions for duty drawback.
- Prepare and submit claims with supporting documentation, ensuring accuracy and timely follow-up.
- Monitor and track refund status with customs authorities.
- Analyze import transactions to identify cost-saving opportunities through Foreign Trade Zones (FTZ).
- Partner with operations to implement and manage FTZ processes where feasible.
- Continuously review open purchase orders, prioritizing high-dollar transactions.
- Estimate and communicate tariff impact before finalizing shipments.
- Identify and recommend local sourcing options to reduce tariff exposure.
- Work closely with the buying/procurement team to align sourcing strategies with tariff mitigation opportunities.
- Provide leadership with regular reports on cost savings and reduction initiatives.
- Comply with all NOV Company and HSE policies and procedures.
- Perform other work-related tasks as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, International Business, or related field required.
- 3-5 years of experience in trade compliance, customs brokerage or global logistics.
- Proven experience with duty drawback programs and FTZ operations preferred.
- Strong understanding of HTS classification, Incoterms, customs valuation, and import/export compliance.
- Must have ERP experience, and be proficient in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and trade compliance software.
