Job Summary

We're looking for an experienced Construction Manager in PMC role with a strong mechanical background to lead and manage the construction, pre-commissioning and commissioning of chemical process plants of our ammonium nitrate and nitric acid plant in Egypt.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for all on-site activities PMC, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role requires deep expertise in mechanical systems specific to the petrochemical industry, particularly those involved in the production of nitric acid and ammonium nitrate.

Key ResponsibilitiesProject Leadership & Management:
  • Lead and direct all on-site construction activities from project initiation to completion. You will manage a diverse team of subcontractors and site personnel.
  • Safety & Compliance: Enforce and maintain a rigorous safety culture on the job site, ensuring all work adheres to company policies, local Egyptian regulations, and international standards.
  • Technical Oversight (all disciplines): Directly oversee the installation, inspection, and testing, pre and commissioning of all civil, equipment, piping, electrical and mechanical systems. You'll ensure all work meets the specific requirements of nitric acid and ammonium nitrate production.
  • Planning & Scheduling: Develop and manage detailed project schedules, coordinating with engineering, procurement, and other departments to ensure seamless execution. You'll be responsible for anticipating and resolving potential scheduling conflicts.
  • Budget & Cost Control: Monitor project costs closely, approve expenditures, and implement cost-saving measures without compromising quality or safety. You will be accountable for keeping the project within its approved budget.
  • Quality Control: Ensure all construction work meets the required quality standards and specifications. This includes conducting regular site inspections, quality audits, and ensuring proper documentation of all work.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and vendors. You'll provide regular progress reports, address concerns, and maintain strong professional relationships.
  • Contracts and Claims management: Monitor and defend the claims potentially coming from the Contractor and suggest measures for an amicable settlement.
  • Qualifications Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is required.
  • Experience: A minimum of 10 years of experience in construction management within the petrochemical or chemical processing industry, with a focus on mechanical installations. Prior experience with ammonia, nitric acid, or ammonium nitrate plants is highly preferred.
  • Technical Skills:Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, process piping, and relevant industry codes (e.g., ASME B31.3 for process piping, ASME Section VIII for pressure vessels).Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering documents such as Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Isometrics, and General Arrangement drawings.
  • Soft Skills:Exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously in a high-pressure environment.
  • Location & Requirements:Must be willing to live and work on-site in Aswan, Egypt.
  • Knowledge of local labor laws and regulations in Egypt is a significant advantage.
  • Fluency in both English and Arabic is a plus.
