Summary

The Utility Systems Repairer Operator is primarily responsible for major renovations at the Medical Center, and provides a vast amount of knowledge and breadth of service to enable complete renovations for healthcare. The incumbent is relied upon to provide modifications within the Medical Center in a quick, expeditious and effective manner. The work may entail wholesale renovations to convert areas from a particular function to another function.

Duties

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Conducts all work associated with renovation projects ranging from total renovation to minor reconfiguration. The work will entail demolition, construction, installation and finishing of building areas for various functionality within the healthcare system.
• Installs, modifies, and reconfigures heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC) systems to support renovation. The work may include installation of ductwork, piping and electronic control systems for HVAC systems.
• Installs, modifies, and reconfigures electrical systems. This work includes wiring distribution and conduit installation, circuit analysis and panel management and coordination with electrical engineers to configure and coordinate equipment on circuits and panels.
• Installs, modifies, and reconfigures plumbing supply, waste and waste vent systems. Plumbing systems include domestic water system, utility water systems and special healthcare water systems that use advanced filtration equipment to purify water.
• The incumbent will provide support for regular maintenance and repair of facility utility systems.
• The incumbent will be assigned regular work orders to support repairs and regularly scheduled preventative maintenance, as required. The incumbent will provides supplemental workforce capacity to the other departments within the Engineering Service Maintenance and Operations department.
• The incumbent will provide additional support to specialized facility activities. This may include bulk oxygen tanks, medical gas lines, pollution control equipment, chemical dispensers and other types of equipment and utilities used to support healthcare.
• The incumbent will support all other building components associated with the renovation. The team he/she is a part of is intended to provide full-service support for normal renovations and will work closely with specialists, as required, to address specialized circumstances associated with renovation.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
