REPORTS TO: Operations Director
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
SALARY: Based on the St. Clair County School System Salary Schedule
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:12 month
EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated according to board policy.

REPORTS TO: Operations Director
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Possess and maintain a valid driver's license
- Three or more years of general construction or maintenance
- Ability to meet the suitability criteria for employment and/or certification licensure under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457.
- Competent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to operate and maintain needed tools and diagnostic
- Ability to implement preventive maintenance programs and to follow safety and recommended rules for efficient shop operations
- Ability, agility, and stamina to engage in prolonged sitting or standing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, bending, turning, climbing, and reaching
- Physical strength and agility to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50
- Ability to exert up to 75 pounds of force
- Ability to work in confined spaces, heights, indoors, outdoors, noisy/quiet environments, and during inclement weather
- Ability and willingness to work after hours, weekends, or holidays when necessary
- Ability to identify mechanical problems, to implement preventative maintenance programs, and follow requirement safety rules
- Ability to use technology as required to perform job responsibilities
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions of maintenance, including use of chemicals
- Ability to read and follow plans, directions, and lay-outs for maintenance projects
- Ability to prioritize tasks
- Ability to make estimates of time and material needed for efficient project completion
- Ability to climb and work from scaffolding, ladders and heights
- High level of personal initiative and ability to work without close supervision
- Ability to be punctual and in regular attendance
- Such alternative qualifications to those listed as the board may require
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Demonstrates support for the school system, its purpose, direction, and
- Performs maintenance and repair of facility areas and furnishings, shop equipment, and workspaces with minimal supervision
- Maintains shop areas in a clean, neat and safe manner. Keep service trucks washed as needed and serviced at intervals as needed as established by the transportation department
- Maintains an accurate inventory of supplies and equipment as assigned
- Demonstrates professionalism in appearance and in attitude at all
- Properly uses and maintains responsibility for tools, equipment, and material resources of the school system
- Request supplies and equipment needed to carryout duties and assigned projects
- Receives, distributes and delivers materials, supplies, tools and equipment as needed
- Assists designated other Maintenance Technicians and Specialist in projects, tasks, and duties as assigned
- Responds promptly to call out for emergency situations
- Performs all maintenance services with priority on student and employee safety
- Engages in work related training to increase knowledge and skills as directed
- Performs duties in a courteous, professional manner
- Maintains appropriate confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters
- Demonstrates initiative in identifying potential problems and/or opportunities for improvement in areas of responsibility
- Reports potential problems, unusual events, or work irregularities to appropriate administrative or supervisory personnel
- Demonstrates skill, safety, and knowledge when operating equipment
- Use proper safety equipment as appropriate when performing maintenance duties
- Replaces light bulbs and ballasts where needed
- Performs regular, routine inspection of buildings and grounds for safety hazards, repairs, or service and reports needs or solves issues according to established school system procedures
- Establishes and maintains effective and appropriate interpersonal relationships with administrators, supervisors, students and school faculty and staff
- Engages in required orientations, trainings, safety instruction and meetings as required for effective job performance
- Responds to inquiries, requests, and constructive feedback in a timely and positive manner
- Maintains and submits reports, records, and correspondence in a timely and accurate manner
- Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local Board policies, and state and federal, and local laws
- Reports absences and takes leave in accordance with Board policies and procedures
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned by Supervisor(s).
