TotalEnergies EP Suriname B.V. (TEEPSR) has taken FID on the GranMorgu project as of 1 st October 2024. The project involves the production of 220,000bbl of oil from the Sapakara and Krabdagu field located in Block 58.
The activities of the affiliate are to prepare for the construction campaign and also to support other activities, including exploration drilling and establishment of an integrated logistics base in Paramaribo.
As part of its commitment to sustainable development, the affiliate is now in the process of implementing the Biodiversity Action Plan as well as coordinating the submission of required studies and management plans required under the Environment Impact Assessment Decree. This position offers a unique learning opportunity for the candidate who will gain knowledge and experience in the practical implementation of environmental aspects of a major offshore projects in line with IFC Performance Standards no net loss / net gain to biodiversity. And, the job holder gains experience in all aspects of environmental management for the offshore energy industry, as well as gaining practical knowledge in the implementation of projects designed to support sustainable development in Suriname.

The Graduate Trainee for Environment is a full time position supporting the Environment team to implement the Environment Department Roadmap 2025 - 2028 including:
- Support the Oil Spill Contingency Planning, training and equipment for the development drilling and operational activities of TEEPSR affiliate in relation to oiled wildlife management
- Environmental support for preparation of offshore drilling, construction, commissioning and operations
- Roll out of training and awareness for drilling and wells, logistics and project construction teams
- Waste Management activities including technical support, waste reporting and studies
- Development of affiliate EMS & EnMS as per requirements of ISO 14001 and ISO 50001
- Air, water and waste emissions monitoring and reporting (monthly, quarterly, annual campaigns)
- Long Term Plan and Carbon Footprint Reduction initiatives
- Implementation of the affiliate Biodiversity Action Plan (BAP) and TEEPSR Survey Strategy under the direction of the Biodiversity Lead
- Supports the implementation of the BAP projects on a regular basis and is responsible for ensuring reporting of project outcomes and KPIs
- Environmental Impact Assessment studies and associated Env + Social Management & Monitoring Plans
- Audits and inspections as per TEEPSR HSSE Audit Plan
- Contributes towards achieving the overall biodiversity goal of Net Positive Impact
- Development of scopes of work, assessment of programs and set up of agreements required for BAP activities
- Contribute to interactions with relevant external and internal stakeholders including Govt of Suriname, Joint Venture Partners, Civil Society, other stakeholders
- Participate in field inspections for BAP projects with implementing partners
- Provides input to communications team on producing internal and external publications on the biodiversity related topics
- Promote and raise awareness, at all levels of the organization, on TEEPSR Environment Roadmap
Candidate Profile
Qualifications/Experience required:
- BSc or MSc in environmental science (e.g. biodiversity, ecology, sustainability, biology)
- Some professional experience (voluntary or otherwise) in oil and gas or similar industry (as part of internship or equivalent) preferably in environmental management / biodiversity management
- Good understanding and practical knowledge of international best practice standards including Best Available Technique, IFC Performance Standards, Equator Principles, ISO etc.)
- Ability to work cross functionally, excellent communication and presentation skills and ability to present technical information to non-technical users
- Proven ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Strong reporting, writing and analytical skills
- Dutch and English mandatory
